Four goals in a thirteen minute period in the second half gave the Binos a rather flattering 5-0 victory over Camelon Juniors at Carmuirs Park.
The Binos starting line up had Hogarth in goals, with a back four of Hay, Graham, Murphy with Ellis at left back.
In midfield trialists Walker and Waddell played wide with Bell and Tomana in central midfield.
David McKenna partnered Lilley up front.
The Camelon squad featured 2 ex-Binos in the shape of Martin Mooney and Willie Irvine. The latter is now in his 40’s and is well remembered for scoring 5 goals against Selkirk over 20 years ago.
The first half was a fairly even affair but the only goal of the half came a few minutes before half time when a move between Ellis and McKenna finished with the full back scoring with a left foot shot.
Camelon’s best effort of the half saw the number 9’s shot being turned past the post by Hogarth.
The Binos doubled their lead in 69 minutes when a cross from the left was controlled by McKenna before shooting into the roof of the net.
Four minutes later, McKenna’s shot was saved by the keeper but Harris was on hand to score from the rebound.
The Binos fourth goal came in 77 minutes when Taggart shot low past the keeper.
The scoring was completed in the 82nd minute when Gribben’s run was perfectly timed to beat the offside trap and he stroked the ball into the net.
This was a good run out as the start of the season fast approaches and decisions have to be made on the trialists which have been used.
Thursday night sees the visit of an Everton squad and, while it probably won’t contain any of their big names, a good crowd is expected at Forthbank.
