Stirling Albion entertained Premiership side, Everton, in what was effectively the Binos’ last public pre season match. However, with the exception of Van Der Meyde, the Everton side was made up with players from their Academy. However, a certain Wayne Rooney was a product of this set up, so the standard was expected to be high.
Unfortunately, the match was uninspiring and it took a last minute goal by the Everton number 9, Agard, to cancel out the first half strike by Chris Aitken.
The Binos starting line up showed 2 trialists, Waddell on the left wing and McKenna, once again listed as a trialist pending registration of his signing, partnering Lilley up front. Paul Murphy, who has shown up well, was on the bench.
The highlight of the first half was a stunning free kick by Aitken in 18 minutes when he sent a right foot shot over the wall and into the top corner of the net.
Everton had a few chances in the second half before Agard managed to score with a close range shot just before the end.
