Our third interview is with our current kitman-

Stuart McColl .

Stuart took over the job from previous kitman Scott McLean back in the Ray Stewart days and was present when we won promotion from the third division. Here is the questions the Stirling forum fans asked him:

 

1)How long have you been doing the kit man's job?

"I have been doing the kitmans job for about 7 years, 3 with Scott Mclean and for the last 4 myself with a few months help from Mif."

 

2)How did you come about to doing it?

" Scott Mclean was doing the job but was struggling for time with his own buisness so asked me to help which I did ."

 

3)Whats the best and worst parts of the job?

"Pre -season is the worst we are in 4 sometimes 5 days a week ,the best part is just winning games."

 

4)What do you do (if anything) at half time?

"Some of the guys change their tops ,need odds and ends at half time ."

 

5)Do any of the team have any superstitions about how their kit is laid out / hung up pre match?

"Lucky enough no one at the moment. Sometimes you get the odd guy whom will only wear short sleeved or long sleeved shirts ."

 

6)Best and worst dress sense amongst the players?

"Most of the younger guys all think that they are the bees and ees all the time, but to be honest Nal can give them a run for their money with all the designer gear. The worst dressed is probably Big Andy Graham ,Dolce and Gabbana in Dunoon nah."

 

7)Whos the loudest player in the dressing room?

"There is no one that sticks out at the moment ."

 

8)Who is the clartiest player?

"There is one guy whom doesnt like to shower after games but i aint disclosing that info ."

 

9)Has a player's personal hygeine ever been so bad he's made them wash their own kit?

"No not yet and hopefully will never have to."

 

10)Do you agree that seeing Kenny Branigan walking out of the shower was, as Alex Ferguson once said when referring to Dion Dublin, "magnificent" ?

" Elephant and trunk come to mind! "

11)Are the country songs still getting played in the dressing room before games?

"Not so much now, most of the guys bring all their own CDs in to the changing room now,we get a bit of everything played now."

 

12)What happened to the silver boots and white socks combo you infamously modelled at Dumbarton....did you get an official caution from the fashion police for this couture abomination?

"They were trainers I had on and the lights were catching them that night. Knowing whom was asking this question ,with sideburns down to his knees I think you should have been arrested by them by now."

 

13)what do you actually do? every time i see you your just standing about!

"Come down to Forthbank at about 10-30 on Saturday morning and you will find out ."

 

14)Has anyone ever asked you for your autograph?

"Yes quite a few times to be honest."

 

15)Ever found skidmarks in the shorts?

"Loads of times. Last year at Firhill the guys went out to warm up, 5 mins later Paddy Connolly came running back in straight to the toilet but didnt make it .Clean shorts and pants were called for ,so yes rather large skid marks that day Im afraid.

16)How long will you be carrying on doing the kit?

"How long is a peice of string ."
