by two goals to one. Stirling gave a debut to 16 year old

Binos goal in a game which was mainly dominated by the Binos,
but was spoiled by an inept referee.

Alloa
3v0 Stirling |
23/04/05 |
Stirling
have won there last 2 games by three goals to zero, but it
was Stirling's turn to be on the wrong side of that score
at local rivals Alloa today. On hindsight a defeat always
looked on the cards as Alloa where hovering near the wrong
side of the table and needed the 3 points to secure there
second division status and Stirling have already secured there
fourth position in the league. However, the manner of this
lackluster performance against there local rivals disappointed
the Binos faithful. The website would just like to thank all
the people who did the sponsored walk in aid of the Trust
yesterday.

thanks to all that made the effort to represent the website.
Goals by Wilson, Nugent and MacDonald his first goal of the
season and of his career put Stirling into cruise control

Club News |
12/04/05 |
As
some of you may or may not know, the Stirling Albion supporters
club is running two buses to the final game of the season
and a cheaper price of £5 per person has been set for
this game. At the moment, almost eighty tickets have been
sold and it's unknown at this time if they are willing to
sell more than the two buses capacity of 100 seats. The website
will keep you up to date with this, but we urge you to purchase
your ticket this Saturday if possible. This bus will leave
from the usual designated stops starting at 9-50am in the
morning and should be up in the pub in Arbroath for 11-30am.
This means plenty of time for a drink and so it should be
a great game to attend. There will be a beach party theme
to this game and it's hoped most of the Bino's faithful will
turn out with Hawian shirts, shorts, etc and Lilo/beach ball
in hand. The last twenty tickets are available from John Buchan
and more details can be found on the forum under the Arbroath
thread. The supporters club are also selling the Player of
the Year tickets for Friday 13th May at a price of £13
per person which includes a meal. Again, these tickets are
selling pretty fast and they are available to the general
public from Stef Torrence or Jimmy Watson. Again, further
details can be found on the forum.

Ayr
United 0v3 Stirling |
09/04/05 |
Stirling
went into this game knowing that a win would secure there
second division status for another year and almost gift wrap
fourth place in the league. The only change from last season
was Wilson for Glancy and it was Glancy himself who gave Stirling
the lead on his return just after half time. Further goals
from Devine and Dunn let the Binos faithful return home feeling
happy.

How to
Join the Supporters Trust |
07/04/05 |
As
you will already have read, the club is currently over £1.2
million in debt and that debt is increasing every week. Over
the past two years the Trust has been focusing on getting
recognized by the club and efforts to get new members have
been put on the back burner. However, it looks like the Trust
will be trying raise awareness of itself more this year and
try and get more members to join. If there is ever a time
to join to the trust, then it's now. Total cost per year ranges
from £5-10 per person depending on your circumstances.
Please follow the link below to read more about the trust
and if you decide to join, then details are available there
as well.

Stirling
1v1 Stranraer |
02/04/05 |
Stranraer's
surge to seek two consecutive promotions took a massive dent
when Stirling drew 1-1 with them at Forthbank today. A 20
yard stormer from Chris Aitken seen Stirling pull level with
Stranraer who had taken an earlier lead. It could have been
a lot worse for Stranraer had Martin Glancy's effort went
in instead of hitting the cross bar. This result also maintained
Stirling's long unbeaten run against them and it's seems the
Stranraer team can't buy a win off the Bino's these days.

Trust AGM Feedback |
01/04/05 |
As
I was at the AGM last night,I thought I would list some of
the things that was said.
With around 20 people at the AGM last night, this was the smallest
group of people at a AGM to date. Most of the meeting was filled
with the speeches from the Acting chairman, secretary, treasurer
and 2 East Stirling Trust members.
At the moment the trust has a total of 75 members, although
the past year seen very little action to increase this as
they where concentrating on getting recognisition from the
club.
The trust has sent several letters to the club and most of
which have had little response and also made contact with
the club numerous other ways without reply. The last letter
to date actually led to the part resignation of the Chairman
and also his discussion on this forum. The letter was sent
by the Supporters club, supporters trust and young reds in
a joint bid to celebrate the clubs 60th anniversary .Having
had no official celebration for the 50th anniversary, then
it was felt something could be done to mark this occassion.John
Buchan came up with the idea of having a "Hall of fame
night" in which players from the past would be recognized
at a set venue and all the profits for this would go to the
Stirling Albion youth set up.In the letter it asked for the
club to get someone to help organize this, but no reply has
been received to date. The supporters trust part was only to
help set up and organize the event so that a significant amount
of money could be raised for our clubs youth set up.This event
would have taken months to set up and it now looks like it
will not go ahead as no one from the club has responded to
the letter the club is not only turning it's back on the help
from the Trust, but also from the supporters club and young
reds as well.
One of the main aims for the trust is to get recognisition
from the board and after a discussion between the chairman
and a local journalist,it seemed that the trust would get
somewhere. The supporters trust made it known that they would
be looking through representation on the board by getting
some shares through the trust, but the trust would need to
earn this through raising money and help in other ways and
so this wouldn't happen for a couple of years. When the same
journalist asked for the chairman to comment on this,he denied
making any statement.
One of our club directors(John Smith) has been in the newspaper
of late saying that the SFL might sue Miles Brookeson(Gretna's
millionaire backer) for putting a £10,000 donation into
the Berwick trust coffer's.It is thought that Mr Brookeson
may sue them as this was all above board and regardless of
his donation to a trust of a separate club, this in no way
breaks any rules. This was a indication that one of the directors
on our board having very little knowledge of a trust's set
up and undermine's some of the work the trust has been doing
over the last 3 years.
It is thought that the rent between the club and the council
has still not been agreed.
Lasy year the Trust put a team into the Scibblers quiz night
and won £300 for a set cause. It was originally thought
that a system could be installed at Forthbank that could link
to the radio royal's commentary and received through a head
set to any partially blind or blind spectators that go to
Forthbank. The cost was a bit more than expected and it is
believed the club would not be interested in this. The donation
is therefore going to Riverside Primary school to get new
equipment. This school was picked as it's believed to be the
nearest school to Forthbank. It is hoped that the link between
the trust and the school could be maintained with an idea
of giving them a few coaching lessons(from a member who is
a qualified coach) and trying to get some of them to join
the young reds. This is to be discussed in the future with
them.
With regards to the club stadium being used by one of the
large professional rugby clubs from Glasgow, the secretary
phoned up the council, etc. It seems the talks at an early stage, but
the council will be given it serious consideration. It's unknown
if the pitch is actually owned by the club so this could be
the rugby clubs biggest stumbling block. As highlighted above,it's
thought that the rent between the council and SAFC has still
not been agreed.
According to the official accounts released by the club, the
club is currently in debt by £1,244,750 of which £284,663
is owed to the bank. Also on the accounts a debt owed to a
creditor for £19,831 which is suspected to be the tax
man. Therefor the club has went from a small profit in season
1989/90 to the current debt of £1.2 million. A graph
will be attached to this post in a while to highlight the
current trend. The figures above are up to the end of last
year and it is suspected that the club will be further in
debt.
The trust accounts showed that they have a current profit
of £3,375 with the proceeds from the quiz night not
added to that.
The main income for this year was membership fees-£300,Supporters
Walk-£847,Bingo night-£990,car boot sale-£106,competition
winnings-£300
Main expenditure was £201 sponsorship for a SAFC player, player
of the year trophy and sponsorship of the radio royal commentary
and the audit fees of £350. The Supporters trust would
like to thank all the people who where in attendance at the
Quiz night and helped raise more money for the club. All information
was noted by the website and isn't a Supporters Trust statement.
