Young Reds
29/04/07

The votes have now been counted and this year's Young Red's player of the year is Steven Bell. Steven's has been outstanding for the Binos this season, scoring nine goals from midfield. However, the voting was very close with Ross Forsyth and, previous winner, Myles Hogarth giving Steven a run for his money.
Steven was presented with the trophy following the Soccer School on Tuesday night which was attended by nearly 50 children.

Stranraer 3v1 Stirling
28/04/07

Stirling went into this last "league" game of the season hoping to beat Stranraer for the first time this season. There was a number of changes from last week as Alan Moore rested some of the first team regulars. In goals came Scott Christie; Derek Currie made his first start of the season at left back after doing all well in the under 19's and reserves all season and he played alongside McNally, Nugent and Hay. In midfield were Fraser, Wilson, Tomana and O'Brien with Bingham and Cashmore up front. Ian Cashmore scored his fifth goal of the season to level things before half time, but it wasn't enough as Stranraer run out winners by three goals to one. Stirling will now take on Raith Rovers in mid week and next Saturday in the hope of getting to the play off final the following week. Stirling are now on the back of four straight defeats, but the real action starts on Wednesday as the Binos hope to gain promotion. Stirlingalbion.com is appealing to everyone to come along to these games and cheer the team on. On another note, the supporters club have confirmed that they will be running a bus to the mid week game against Raith Rovers. The stops and times will be BANNOCKBURN 5.45, BORESTONE 5.50, ISLAMIC CENTRE 5.55, HALFWAY HOUSE 6PM. Match report below.

Stirling 0v1 Stirling
21/04/07

The Binos rested a couple of key player's in this 1-0 home defeat to fellow play off team Brechin City. The Binos went with Hogarth in goals, a back four of Hay, Nugent, McNally & Forsyth; in midfield was Bell, Devine, O'Brien and Tomana with Bingham and Snodgrass up front; Christie, Cashmore, Wilson, Taggart and Fraser all made the bench. In this pretty meaningless end of season game, Stirling missed the chance to pick up a point when Robert Snodgrass missed a penalty and as a result this was Stirling's third defeat in a row. The Binos take on Stranraer next week before the real games commence again with the Binos taking on either Brechin or Raith the following midweek. Match report below.

Ayr United 3v2 Stirling
14/04/07

Road works on the motorway meant there was a smaller than usual Stirling support down at Ayr today as some of the fans decided to turn back after being stuck in the traffic for hours. Sadly we wont be bringing you a match report as Ian and myself were unable to make the match. Anyway, the Binos lined up for this game in an experimental 3-5-2 formation with Paul Hay being dropped from the squad and Mark McNally returned to the centre of defence; David Bingham replaced Nathan Taggart and Ian Cashmore returning to the bench for Douglas Wilson. The Binos found themselves 1-0 down in the first half, but a Chris Aitken penalty had them on level terms at half time. Ayr scored a further two goals in the second half and Stirling's misery was compounded as Andy Graham had to go off injured as he appeared to be stamped on the hand by an Ayr player. Colin Cramb notched his 15th goal of the season from the penalty spot with a couple of minutes to go to give the Binos some hope as Ayr went down to 10 men as their player was sent off for being the last man. The Binos had a shot cleared off the line in injury time, but apparently it was a good two yards over the line, but the linesman and ref failed to spot it. With this defeat the Binos handed Morton the title despite them going down 2-0 away to Raith Rovers (the team the Binos will play in the play off's). Congratulations to Morton on winning the title and hopefully the Binos can be in the same division next season. Next up is Brechin City at home and the Binos will be hoping to put in a better performance against another possible play off team.

Peterhead 2v1 Stirling
07/04/07

The Binos lined up for this vital league game with Steven Bell coming in for Douglas Wilson and Nathan Taggart coming in for the injured David O'Brien. Goal scorer on the day was Robert Snodgrass, but it wasn't enough to take anything from the game and Morton's emphatic win over Forfar saw them go seven points clear with only three games left to play. It now look's highly likely that the Binos will be involved in the play off's so hopefully the Binos can get back on a winning run till then. Match report below.

Stirling 1v0 Cowdenbeath
03/04/07

The Binos lined up with the same team as Saturday, except Stewart Devine returned to the midfield after serving his two match ban in place of Marek Tomana and John Fraser replaced Mark McNally on the bench after he also returned from a two match ban. The Binos managed to scrape through this game thanks to a second half winner by Colin Cramb, but Cowdenbeath proved that they are a good side and they could have won this game if their finishing was a bit better. The bad news on the night was that Morton managed to win 1-0 away to Brechin and the four point gap remains at the top of the table with only four games of the season left. The Binos take on Peterhead up North on Saturday in what will be another difficult game and it's hoped that there will be a good traveling support to back them. The supporters bus bus leaves the Borestone bar at 8-50am, the Islamic centre at 8-55am and the Halfway House at 9am with a price of £12 for adults and £8 for concessions and all members and non members are welcome. A £2 surcharge maybe applied if you are a non-member and the bus will stop half way down the road for a chip stop for an hour, so please take this into account. Match report below.
