Having a nosey back to this season, then here is all our archived news from August 2008. Please note that some of the link's may not work anymore :

The Binos travelled to Arbroath in search of their first win with both the players and manager feeling a bit pressure to deliver. Stirling lined up with the same team as last week- Myles Hogarth in goals; a back four of Andy Graham (back to right back), Andy Lawrie, Ross Forsyth and David Lowing. In the middle saw striker Martin Grehan taking up left midfield again, with John O'Neill, Mark Docherty and Nathan Taggart alongside him. Up front David McKenna got the nod to partner Ian Harty. On the bench was Scott Christie, Paul Murphy, Liam Corr, Steven Waddell and Chris Hamilton. The Binos pretty much dominated most of the game, but found themselves 1-0 down before a John O'Neill strike equalised. The Binos took the lead through a David McKenna lob which seen the striker get his first goal in almost ten months for the Binos. The Binos fans sung their hearts out for 90 minutes (despite criticism from Alan Moore in the press in recent week's), but they fell silent when Mark Docherty was sent off with nearly 35 minutes left of the second half. Arbroath could have equalised, but Myles Hogarth pulled off a top class from a Barry Sellers penalty. Stirling held on and the Stirling support (dressed in beach wear for their pre-match beach party) went away happy. The Binos now sit fifth in the table and don't have a game for a fortnight due to international break. The Binos will then take on derby rivals Alloa Athletic in the first derby game and the website is appealing for the fans to give the team the same support they did up at Arbroath. Match report now online.

The Binos went into their fourth league game of the season, still searching for their first win. Stirling lined up with Myles Hogarth in goals; a back four of Andy Lawrie (starting off at right back), Andy Graham, Ross Forsyth and David Lowing. In the middle saw striker Martin Grehan take up the unfamiliar role of left midfield, with John O'Neill, new signing Mark Docherty and Nathan Taggart alongside him. Up front David McKenna got his first start of the season alongside Ian Harty. On the bench was Scott Christie, new signing Chris Hamilton, Steven Waddell, Paul Murphy and Liam Corr. Stewart Devine missed this game through injury (groin) and is likely to be out for the next few weeks, whilst new signing Kevin Ross was ineligible for this game. Stirling found themselves 2-0 down earlier on, but man of the match Nathan Taggart pulled one back before half time and Ian Harty salvaged a point after slotting home a penalty in the second half. The Binos find themselves with only 2 points from 12 and still looking for their first win of the season. The Binos next take on Arbroath next Saturday and the fans will be having a Beach Party up there with pre-match drinks in the town's Weatherspoon's. The supporters bus is booked out for this, but you can still join in by wearing a Hawian shirt or some sort of flamboyant clothing! Match report below.

Alan Moore will this week complete the signing of three new players in time for the home game against Ayr United this weekend. Chris Hamilton is one of the player's to have impressed not only the manager, but the fan's as well with his performances in pre-season and also in his appearance in the league this season. The right sided winger has previously been with third division side Dumbarton and spent the end of last season across in America playing football. Joining him is defender Kevin Ross who also featured a lot in pre-season before picking up an injury against St Mirren in pre-season. Kevin was previously with Celtic under 19's and he mainly featured in the centre of defence in pre season. Joining the Binos on a one year contract is Mark Docherty from St Mirren. The 20 year left winger came through the youth ranks at St Mirren and was loaned out to Montrose in season 2006/07 were he made 9 appearances and scored one goal. Mark made one sub appearance in the SPL last season, but after a falling out with Gus McPherson, Alan Moore was quick to offer him a contract.

The Binos made the long journey down the coast today to take on Stranraer who were promoted due to Gretna going out the game at the end of last season. The Binos lined up with Myles Hogarth in goals; a back four of Andy Graham, Andy Lawrie, Ross Forsyth and David Lowing; in midfield were Nathan Taggart, John O'Neill, Paul Murphy and Liam Corr, whilst Martin Grehan and Ian Harty were given the nod to play up front. On the bench were Scott Christie, Steven Waddell, David McKenna, Stewart Devine and Trialist- Shaun Fagan(ex- Motherwell and Clyde midfielder). The Binos continued their bad start to the season as they went down 1-0 to Stranraer as the players looked to be second best to every ball. Stirling now take on big spending Ayr Utd at home next week, in which former club captain Chris Aitken will be in the Ayr line up. Match report below.

After a hectic summer of trials and pre season friendlies the Stirling Albion FC Youth programme got underway on Sunday 10th August with two games in the SFL Youth Divisions at Under 17 and Under 19 levels. Results were extremely positive but were, unfortunately, achieved at a price as young Under 17 player , Danny Ashe sustained a serious injury in the game at Stair Park against Stranraer. In an unfortunate accident Danny broke his leg and everyone in the Youth set up wishes him a speedy recovery. The 17's have recruited a few new players and had pre season games against Falkirk FC, an American touring team, Stenhousemuir FC and Civil Service Strollers before travelling to Stranraer for their first competitive fixture. After travel difficulties ( the hired coach broke down!) the team put all their woes behind them and earned a great 4 - 1 win with a hat trick from Andy Hunter being the main highlight. Garry Currie netted a penalty. The boys coped well with the loss of the injured Danny Ashe and made a very good start to the season. Their next fixture is on Sunday 17th August with a home game against Dundee FC on the Forthbank astro at 12.15.

The Under 19 team have attracted a few new recuits and are still finalising their final player pool. Schoolboy Under 18 Internationalists Mark Miller and Johnathan Boyle have joined the club and a series of friendly games have helped the preparations for the new season. The team have played Uphall Amateurs, Cambusbarron Amateurs, Rangers FC u 17's and Tullibody U 19s. Their first Youth Division match on Sunday 10th was away to Cowdenbeath - a bit of a bogey team. Craig Young netted in the first minute and again in the 37th minute before Johnny Boyle slotted a penalty away on half time. Up 3 - 0, the team disappointed in the second period, allowing Cowdenbeath to score with a last minute penalty as they took the foot off the gas much to the annoyance of coaches Donald and Binnie. The team cannot afford this in the future and will be well warned before taking on Partick Thistle on Sunday at Forthbank with a 2.15 kick off.

The under 15 team have had three friendlies against Gairdoch, Rossvale and Falkirk FC and should be ready for the start of their season on Sunday 24th August with a game against Clyde at Forthbank. They too have a number of new signings currently being prepared by Ian McConnell, new coach Davy Adams and Roddy Grant.

The new Under 13 team, following extensive trials, is almost 'there' with coaches Blair Cremin and Tom Ogilvie hoping to finalise their squad by the week end. Over 70 players turned up for trials and games and coaching sessions have given the players a chance to earn themselves a chance in the Youth Programme. First game for the debut team will be away to Dumbarton on the 24th.

The Binos went up to a wet and windy Gayfield to take on Arbroath in the first round of the League Cup hoping to get through to the next round tonight. The Binos brought back Scott Christie in goals whilst the same back four of Graham, Lawrie, Forsyth and Lowing as Saturday took to the field. In midfield Nathan Taggart was brought back in on the wing with Murphy, O'Neill and Devine alongside him. Up front, Alan Moore started with Ian Harty and Martin Grehan as his choice of strikers for the starting line up. On the bench were Hogarth, Roycroft, Corr, McKenna and Waddell. A mixture of bad goalkeeping and poor defending saw the Binos limp out of their second cup in only 11 days. The Binos scorers on the night were right back Andy Graham and striker Ian Harty as the Binos went down 3-2. The Binos now take on East Fife on Saturday at Forthbank for the second league game of the season in the hope of gaining their first win of the season. Match report below.

The Binos took on Brechin City at Glebe Park in the opening game of the season and found themselves traveling back to Stirling with nothing to show for a spirited performance. Stirling lined up with Myles Hogarth in goals; Andy Graham, Andy Lawrie, Ross Forsyth and David Lowing in defence; Liam Corr, Paul Murphy, Martin O'Neill, Stewart Devine and Martin Grehan in the middle and Ian Harty up front. On the bench were Scott Christie, David McKenna, Steven Waddell, Nathan Taggart and trialist Shaun Fagen (ex Motherwell and Clyde player). Liam Corr limped off the field early on (he suffered a dead leg and is likely to be fit for Wednesday night) with Nathan Taggart replacing him. Brechin went ahead on 39 minutes when a deep cross saw Hogarth get a touch on it, but it landed on the head of Charlie King who's header was tapped in by Gary Twigg. The Binos spurned several chances in each half to get on the score sheet and it was with a piece of bad officiating that the Binos equalised. The ball was crossed over near the bye line by Ian Harty in which it hit the Brechin defender on the leg before hitting the City keeper's chest a couple of yards off the line. The keeper's leg appeared to be behind the line, but the ball never crossed it, however, the linesman somehow gave the goal. The Stirling fans weren't complaining though and Stirling looked like they could go on and win the game. The Binos fell behind once more when Darren Smith found space in the box and his acute shot found the corner of the net. This was a killer goal for the Binos and Brechin shut up shop with 5 minutes to and go and took all three points. The Binos now take on Arbroath in the League Cup this Wednesday night at Gayfield and they will need to start taking their chances if they are to have a chance of making it through to the next round of the cup. Apologies for the short match report, however, a full match report will appear on the website for the game on Wednesday night.
