Defender Signs on loan
31/08/07
Stirling Albion made their second loan signing of this week on the last day of the transfer window when they signed Celtic youngster Chris Reid today. The twenty one year old defender can play at either centre half or right back and is likely to go into the squad for tomorrow's game against Livingston. The six foot defender has come through the youth system at Parkhead, but has been unable to break through to their first team to date. William Easton signed earlier this week on loan from Dundee United and the winger made his debut in the 2-0 League Cup defeat by Hearts in mid week.

Biggest Game of the Season
30/08/07
Stirling Albion have had a reasonable start to the season, but Saturday's game is a must win for the Binos if they are to have a good chance of staying in the first division this season. Livingston are sitting below us in the table and a win on Saturday could kick start our season. The website is appealing to all Binos and the Stirling public to get down to Forthbank to cheer on the Binos this Saturday to a possible win. On another note, the club has received a new stock of Stirling Albion strips and they will be on sale this Saturday from the club shop as well as a host of other merchandise.

Stirling 0v2 Hearts
28/08/07
The Binos took on SPL side Hearts in the second round of the League cup after disposing of Brechin City in the first round at Glebe Park. The Binos gave a debut to William Easton who was signed on loan from Dundee United on the same day. The 21 year old left winger has been at United since he was 12 and has progressed through their youth system and reserves in that time. He has made 2+5 appearances for United, although he was still to feature this season under Craig Levin. The Binos lined up with Hogarth in goals; a back four of Nugent, Graham, Ellis, Devine; in midfield was Bell, Aitken, Murphy and Easton and up front Colin Cramb was given the nod to partner Lilley. On the bench was Christie, Hay, McBride, Tomana and McKenna. The Binos did well to match Hearts for periods of the game and created a few chances, but overall Hearts proved too strong and it was them who progressed through to the next round after a 2-0 win. The biggest worry for the Binos was the sight of Stewart Devine being stretchered off and it is unknown at this time how serious the injury is. On other news, Ross Forsyth was back running so he may now return for the league game at home to Livingston which is shaping up to be the most important game of the season to date. Dunfermline 2v1 Stirling
25/08/07

The Binos went into this game with almost a full squad after Colin Cramb returned from suspension and John Paul McBride returned from injury. The Binos lined up with Hogarth in goals; a back four of Nugent, Graham, Ellis and Devine; in midfield was Bell, Aitken, Murphy and Taggart whilst Lilley and McKenna were given the nod to play up front. On the bench was Christie, Harris, Tomana, Gribben and Cramb. The Binos more than held their own in the first half and went in at half time drawing 0-0. Stirling fell behind after bad marking in the box after a quick free kick, but later on Bell won a penalty and Dunfermline were reduced to ten men. Chris Aitken stepped up and placed the ball beyond Paul Gallagher in the Pars goal. The Binos looked like they were going to hold on, but bad marking again let Harper in to head the winner. The Binos now take on Hearts in the cup (there is still some tickets available) on Tuesday night before taking on Livingston at home next Saturday. Match report below.

Stirling 5v1 Dumbarton
22/08/07

Stirling lined up against a very youthful Dumbarton side with a pretty experienced team, but it shows the depth in the team when not one of them started the game that drew 0-0 on Saturday with Morton. In goals was Christie; with a back four made up of Hay, Trialist (Mark Sideserf). youth player- Kenny Feeks, youth player- Stuart MacFarlane ; in midfield was Harris, Tomana, McBride (his first game back from injury) and Walker; up front saw starts for Gribben and Cramb, whilst on the bench was trialist (John McGoldrick) and three youth players (Kevin Fotheringham, Craig Young and keeper Daniel Cawley). The Binos took the lead after Tomana (who tore the Dumbarton team apart for most of the night) saw his deflected shot from outside the box go in. The Binos defence was caught napping and Dumbarton equalised a few minutes later. Colin Cramb then got his first of his four goals with a fantastic free kick from outside the box. His second was a toe poke in the box to give the Binos a half time lead by three goals to one. The Binos made one substitution at half time when central defender MacFarlane went off for trialist winger McGoldrick. Paul Hay moved into central defence and Nicky Walker took up the uncustomary role of right back. The Binos soon scored a fourth when Cramb completed his hat trick after some great work by Gribben. The Binos threw on Fotheringham and Young and both players did well in their short time on the park. Cramb should have made it five-one when the Dumbarton keeper made a save and he missed from only a couple of yards out. However, his fourth goal of the night was still to come when good work from McGoldrick down the wing set him up for a side foot into the net. Overall, it was good performance in which saw good displays from Hay, Harris, Tomana and a man of the match display from Colin Cramb. Next up is Dunfermline away on Saturday in the league before the Binos take on Hearts in the cup next Tuesday (tickets will be on sale all week from the club office- please phone Marlyn on 01786-450399 for further details).

Stirling 0v0 Morton
18/08/07

The Binos kept their unbeaten run to the season going after drawing 0-0 with Morton whom themselves had two wins in the league before this game. The Binos lined up with six changes to the starting line up that had been beaten by Montrose in the Challenge cup in mid week. The Binos were still without Sean Roycroft, Ross Forsyth and John Paul McBride, whilst Colin Cramb completed his three match ban. Hogarth returned to goals; a more familiar defence was in place with Nugent, Ellis, Graham and Devine; Taggart, Aitken, Bell and Murphy were in midfield, whilst McKenna and Lilley were paired up front. On the bench was Christie, Hay, Tomana, Gribben and Harris. The Binos stayed in sixth place thanks to this point and their next game is against Dumbarton in the Stirlingshire cup cup (in which the Hearts tickets will be on sale again) before taking the short trip up to Dunfermline on Saturday. Match report below.

Pie Oven Appeal Update
15/08/07

To date the pie oven appeal has raised over £2,100 and it's hoped that the two new pie oven's will be in place for this Saturday's home game against Morton. If they are not in place for then, they definitely will be for the next home game at Forthbank. The website also bought the club a new five foot fridge from the remaining money in the appeal. Work will continue to raise more money in a bid to get equipment for the terracing so that the club are able to sell food there during match days when they are opened. Montrose 5 v 1 Stirling
14/08/07

Stirling Albion put in a shocking display against third division Montrose in the Challenge cup tonight. Several key players were rested and Alan Moore was hopeful that the players who came in would still be able to do a good job. Moore opted for Scott Christie in goals; a back four of Hay, Ellis, Murphy and Devine; in midfield Ross Harris was given his debut at the centre of midfield alongside Aitken, Tomana and Taggart, whilst Gribben and Cramb started up front. Harris made a goal scoring debut, but the players and fans will want to forget this game as soon as possible. The Binos will take on Morton at home this Saturday and the Binos will bring back Lilley, McKenna, Bell, Nugent and Graham to the squad for this game. The club is hopeful that the Hearts tickets will be on sale before the game this Saturday with a price of £18 for adults and £10 for children/concessions. Match report below.

Stirling sign duo
14/08/07

Stirling Albion have today signed pre-season trialist's Paul Murphy and Ross Harris. Murphy has previously been on the books of Stenhousemuir and can play in midfield or defence. He featured heavily in pre season and played in the 1-1 home draw with Partick and then again in the 2-2 away draw with St Johnstone. Murphy was excellent in the St Johnstone game and Moore was quick to add him to the squad. Also joining him is former Dundee midfielder Ross Harris who also featured in pre-season and was fantastic at the heart of the midfield. It is thought that Harris may only be signed up until christmas.

St Johnstone 2v2 Stirling
11/08/07

Stirling went into this game against SPL hopefuls St Johnstone on the back of two unbeaten games and with a host of injuries. Sean Roycroft is out long term whilst John Paul McBride and Ross Forsyth are out for the short term with ankle problems. Colin Cramb served the second of his three game suspension, whilst Paul Nugent and Steven Bell were struggling with ankle knocks. The Binos lined up with Hogarth in goals; Nugent, Graham, Ellis and Devine at the back; Bell, Aitken, Trialist (Paul Murphy) and Taggart in midfield and Lilley and McKenna up front. The Binos were more than a match for full time St Johnstone and went into half time with a 2-1 advantage thanks to inform striker David McKenna. The Binos ended the game with a 2-2 draw and this was a fantastic result, especially with the amount of players Stirling had out for this game and the Binos woeful record in Perth over recent years. Stirling will now go into the challenge cup game in mid week against Montrose and it's more than likely than Colin Cramb will return for this game. Also. a well done to both the Stirling and St Johnstone young supporters who provided a half time penalty shoot out on the pitch in which the young Binos won 4-2. Match report courteous of Redweb.

Brechin 0v1 Stirling
07/08/07

Stirling lined up for the 1st round of the CIS cup with Hogarth in goals; the same back four as Saturday- Nugent, Graham, Ellis and Forsyth; In midfield saw the return of Aitken who was suspended on Saturday alongside Bell, Tomana and Taggart, whilst McKenna started this game and Cramb temporarily returned after starting the first of his three league match suspension on Saturday. The Binos dominated the first half and created some excellent chances before finally going ahead. Nathan Taggart ran onto a sloppy back pass and rounded the keeper and put a great ball towards goal were Brechin defender Scott Walker could only slide into his own net after coming under pressure by sponsors man of the match David McKenna. The second half was a different game and Brechin saw more possession without creating too much. The biggest worry of the night was Forsyth hobbling off with an obvious ankle injury and Steven Bell was also struggling a little towards the end. The Binos will now go into the hat for the second round of the cup and the next tie will be played on either Tuesday 28th or Wednesday the 29th August. Match report below.

Stirling 1v1 Partick Th
04/08/07

Stirling lined up for their first game in the first division for the first time in a decade with 3 players out suspended (Aitken, Cramb & McNally) and with Roycroft out injured. The surprise of the day was the return to the squad of Stewart Devine who managed to get through ninety minutes in mid week and was on the bench today. The Binos lined up in front a large home crowd with Hogarth in goals; Nugent, Graham, Ellis and Forsyth at the back; Tomana, Trialist (Paul Murphy), Bell & Taggart in midfield and Lilley and Gribben up front. On the bench was new signing Nicky Walker who had signed on today from Whitehall Welfare after impressing in pre-season as well as Christie, Devine, Hay and McKenna. In an even match, the Binos fell behind to a dubious Donnelly goal in which the standside linesman had ruled that his header had gone over the line. Stirling introduced Devine, Walker and McKenna just after the goal and it paid off as Walker set up McKenna to head the equaliser. Both teams pressed for a winner to no avail and the Binos got their first point of the new campaign. Stirling will now take on Brechin in the first round of the Cis League cup at Glebe Park this Tuesday night and all three suspended players will return for this match. Match report below.
