0v3 Stirling |
26/12/05 |
| Stirling went
to Firhill with the same team and formation as they did in last
Saturday's 5-2 win at Ayr with the exception of O'Brien on the
bench for Turnbull. Stirling went into this game being unbeaten
in their last nine games and the Binos brought plenty of gifts
for the large Stirling faithful that turned out at Firhill.
Stirling went in at half time after "sir" Paddy had
given them a half time lead. The Binos came out and played some
fantastic football in the second half and again it was Connolly
who scored from a header, although the national newspapers are
saying it was a Colin Stewart own goal. The Binos wrapped the
points up in style when Chris Aitken lobbed the keeper from
30 yards out to add another stunning goal to his collection
for the Binos. Next up will be Stirling's hardest test of all
to keep their unbeaten record going when big spending Gretna
come into town. All at stirlingalbion.com are hoping that a
big Stirling crowd will turn out for this one as the Binos are
playing some fantastic football at the moment. Forfar showed
on Saturday that Gretna can be beaten and with the Binos being
the form team in the league, this should turn out to be a cracker
of a game. Match report below. |

United 2v5 Stirling |
17/12/05 |
| Stirling continued
their long unbeaten run going with a very impressive 5-2 away
win at Ayr United today. Stirling had Devine, Roycroft and O'Brien
out injured and the Binos started with a 3-5-2 formation. Hogarth
in goals; Nugent, Graham, McNally at the back; Forsyth, Fraser,
Bell, Aitken and Paul Hay in the middle with last week's goal
hero Chris Hay partnering Paddy Connolly up front. The Binos
went 1-0 up thanks to a Andy Graham header from a corner before
Ayr equalised. Further goals from Fraser, Chris Hay, Paddy Connolly
and a 30 yard peach of a free kick from Chris Aitken gave the
Binos an easy victory over the Honest Men despite them pulling
a goal back near the end. The Binos have now gone nine games
unbeaten, but will find it more difficult to keep that run going
with games against Partick (away, please note that this has
a 2pm kick off time) and Gretna (home) coming up before the
end of the year. Match report below. |

1v0 Inverurie Loco Works |
10/12/05 |
| Stirling went
into the hat for the third round of the Scottish cup after edging
out Highland league outfit, Inverurie Loco Works by one goal
to nil. Stirling went into this game with the same side that
drew 0-0 against Dumbarton in mid week, but it was the Aberdeenshire
team that dominated for large spells of the game, without any
real end product. Stirling on the other hand, played badly,
but wasted about 5 free headers in the box to ease the tension
and get that vital first goal. Hat trick hero from last Saturday,
Chris Hay was sent on as well as Davie Turnbull to put three
strikers up front in a a bid to win the game. The move paid
off as Chris Hay put the ball in the net after a melly in the
box in the last minute of the game. Overall, the result was
maybe a bit harsh on Locos, but none of the players or fans
where complaining too much in the end. Stirling pulled a home
tie against Partick in the third round of the cup and now have
a good chance of progressing onwards. Next up is Ayr United
away, but the Binos will need to bring back some the footy from
a few weeks ago if they are going to get anything from the Honest
Men and continue their unbeaten run that has now last eight
games. |

4v2 Forfar Athletic |
03/12/05 |
| Stirling
moved two places up the league after yet another fantastic result
that now see's them winning six games on the spin. Things didn't
look to good at the start of the game with four players from
last week out injured (Chris Aitken, Paul Nugent, Douglas Wilson
and Ross Forsyth), however the good news was that Steven Bell
and John Fraser returned from injury and started, whilst Steven
Hutchison shrugged off his injury to also start in midfield.
The injuries forced the Binos to revert back to a 4-4-2 formation
and allowed man of the match, Chris Hay to get a rare start.
After a poor start in which the Binos where down 2-1 at half
time, it was Chris Hay who stole the show with a hat trick.
Strike partner, Paddy Connolly also got on the score sheet as
the Binos ran out comfortable winners in the end. The website
would also like to thank the fourteen forum members who sponsored
the game today and also everyone at the club (especially Marlyn)
for their fantastic hospitality. This is now the third game
the website has sponsored and coincide's with three victories-
long may it continue. Next up is Dumbarton on Wednesday night
in yet another important league game, before the Binos take
on Inverurie Loco Works at home in the Scottish cup next Saturday. |

0v0 Dumbarton |
07/12/05 |
| Stirling continued
their unbeaten run after scraping a point at home to Dumbarton.
Stirling got off to a fantastic start and dominated the first
fifteen minutes of play. This spell almost reaped the rewards
when winger David O'Brien hit the post. After that, Stirling
fell apart and Dumbarton could have won the game 5-0 in the
end. Hogarth pulled off some fantastic saves and Stirling where
also saved by the cross bar twice. Stirling now play Inverurie
Locos in the Scottish cup, but the Binos will need to lift their
game to reach the next round of the cup. |
