Transfer Speculation
30/12/07
Less than 48 hours from the opening of the transfer window and rumors are already on the go as to who is joining the Binos for the second part of the season. The Binos look like they have agreed a deal with SPL side Gretna to bring defensive midfielder Erik Paartalu into the squad till the end of the season. Paartalu was on the bench for Gretna's defeat against Celtic on Saturday, but the talented 21 year old looks set to be coming to Forthbank. The Australian stands at over 6 foot 2" and has racked up 45 appearances in the last two seasons, scoring four goals on the way. Another player who is rumored to be joining is Hearts winger Neil McCann. McCann would be a massive signing for the Binos after gaining top level experience with Dundee, Hearts, Southampton and Rangers whilst also racking up 25 caps for Scotland. McCann has been out of the Hearts team since breaking his leg at the start of the season and signing a player of his caliber would be a massive cope for Alan Moore. On other front's, it look's like two player's have played their last games for the Bino's (although other's look set to follow in the transfer window) in the shape of loan signings Craig Reid (Celtic) and William Easton (Dundee United). Reid has been in fantastic form at the heart of the defence for the Binos and has racked up 14 appearances since he signed in September. Easton racked up 7+3 appearances and one goal since signing at the end of August. Stirlingalbion.com would like to thank both players for their services to the club and wish them all the very best in the future.

Dunfermline 2v1 Stirling
29/12/07
Stirling went into the last game of 2007 looking for their first league win since beating the Pars at Forthbank at the end of October, however, it wasn't meant to be. Two sloppy goals in the first half cost the Binos three points, despite them dominating the second half for large spells and pulling a goal back from a Chris Aitken 30 yard strike. The Binos lined up with Myles Hogarth in goals; Paul Nugent, Andy Graham, Craig Reid and Laurie Ellis (returning from injury) in defence; the same midfield took the field as Wednesday with Paul Hay again at right midfield, Chris Aitken and Steven Bell in the middle and Ross Forsyth at left midfield whilst up front Derek Lilley started alongside David McKenna. On the bench was Scott Christie, Nathan Taggart, Ross Harris, Marek Tomana and Nicky Walker. The Binos now end the year with an 8 point gap to ninth in the league and hopefully the arrival of a couple of new players in 2008 will help bridge that gap if we are to have a chance of staying in the first division this season. Match report below.

Stirling 0v0 St Johnstone
26/12/07
The Binos went into this game on the back of four league defeats and were desperate to stop the rot before it set in. Stirling shaped up in a fairly defensive 4-4-2 formation with Myles Hogarth in goals; a back four of Paul Nugent (returning from injury), Craig Reid, Andy Graham and Stewart Devine (also returning from injury); the midfield was made up of Ross Forsyth, Chris Aitken, Steven Bell and Paul Hay, whilst up front was Nicky Walker and David McKenna. On the bench was Scott Christie, Derek Lilley, Nathan Taggart, Marek Tomana and Ross Harris. Overall Stirling were the better of the two sides, but were unable to take advantage and pick up the three points their performance merited. Today's other results also went against the Binos and the gap at the bottom is now up to eight points and is looking insurmountable at the moment. On another note, Celtic tickets were on sale at the game today and will be available from the office (please phone in advance) till the day of the game (they will be on sale at the home Morton game on the 2nd January as well). Pitch Inspection- GAME OFF

21/12/07

After the week of cold weather we have had, it will come as no surprise to most that a pitch inspection has been called for at 11am on Saturday morning. Clyde do have pitch covers that have been on for most of the week, but it is still unknown at this time if the game will go ahead. Please check back tomorrow for further details (up to the minute details will be on our main forum). A quick note now to say that the ref has looked at the pitch and is doing another pitch inspection at 12 noon. Further to yesterday's and today's post, this game has been called OFF due to a frozen pitch.

Stirling 1v3 QOS

15/12/07

Stirling went into this game on the back of defeat's from high flying Hamilton and Dundee, but the Binos were confident they could get something from fellow strugglers Queen of the South at home, but 90 minutes later and the Binos found themselves again on the wrong side of a defeat. Stirling lined up with Hogarth in goals; a back four of Paul Hay, Craig Reid, Andy Graham and Ross Forsyth; the midfield was made up of William Easton, Chris Aitken, Steven Bell and Ross Harris whilst up front was Colin Cramb and David McKenna. On the bench was Scott Christie, Derek Lilley, Nathan Taggart, Marek Tomana and Nicky Walker. Stirling's injury worries continued as Colin Cramb was stretchered off after winning a penalty and Chris Aitken converted, however, a dreadful second half saw Queens run out worthy winners. Stirling now find themselves four points adrift at the bottom of the league and nothing but a win against Clyde will do next week to try and close that gap. Match report below.

Dundee 3v1 Stirling
08/12/07

The Binos went to Dens Park looking for their first win over Dundee in thirty years, but the Binos will have to wait a while longer after going down 3-1 to them. Stirling made several changes after Paul Nugent was unable to make the squad after hurting his thigh in mid week. Paul looks like he maybe out for up to three weeks with the injury. Myles Hogarth returned to make his first appearance since the start of October; Andy Graham partnered Laurie Ellis in the heart of defence as Craig Reid moved to right back and Ross Forsyth took up the left back position; in midfield Stewart Devine came into left midfield with Steven Bell and John McBride in the middle and Chris Aitken taking up the right midfield position; up front Colin Cramb partnered David McKenna. On the bench for the day was Scott Christie, Paul Hay, Marek Tomana, Ross Harris and Nicky Walker. The Binos matched Dundee for most of the game, but a slack ten minutes saw Dundee score three goals before Steven Bell scored Stirling's consolation. Stirling now face Queen of the South next week and if the Binos don't win that one, we could find ourselves adrift at the bottom of the table. Match report below.
