Stirling 0v5 Gretna
28/02/06
This game was meant to be played on Hogmany, but was postponed due to the weather and by the time kick off came last night, it's hard to see why this game wasn't postponed as well as the pitch was frozen hard. However, the Binos rolled their sleeves up and got on with things only for high flying Gretna to gub them 5-0. Stirling fielded the same team that had beaten Morton a week ago on Saturday 3-1, except for the injured Paul Nugent who was replaced by Paul Hay at right back. Stirling were in a pretty confident mood having been the form team in the league after winning eleven of their last thirteen games, but it was the millionaires from Gretna that showed a class above the rest. James Grady was a constant thorn in Stirling's side and it was he who opened the scoring to give Gretna a half time lead. Gretna went on to dominate again in the second half and no one could grudge them the final score in the end! Next up is derby rivals Alloa who did the Binos a favour last night by beating play-off rivals Partick Thistle 2-1 at the Recs. If the game manages to beat the freezing weather conditions, then the Binos will need to be at their best to get anything from this derby game, despite their lowly league position.

Stirling 3v1 Morton
18/02/06
Stirling continued their great run when they beat second placed Morton 3-1 at home today. The Binos have now only lost once since October 25th in the league and are brimming in confidence for the up and coming game against run away leader's Gretna a week on Tuesday. Stirling took the lead through Steven Bell and we're pretty much in control of the game. However, the Binos then conceded a weak goal with the last kick of the ball in the first half to make it all square at half time. The Binos were fired up for the second and Douglas Wilson (the sponsors man of the match) seemed to be on a mission to get all three points. Wilson set up both Aitken and O'Brien in the second half for the Binos to run out worthy 3-1 winners. The disappointing aspect of the day was the 2-1 win for Peterhead against Partick, in that it keeps the Binos one point behind them for that elusive play off spot (albeit it with two games in hand). Also that Paul Nugent has a suspected broken tiber bone in his leg after a tackle from a Morton player in the first minute of the game. Next up is big spending Gretna in a run of six games in the space of nineteen days. If the Binos can maintain unbeaten in that run of games, then they will surely be favorites to take that last play off spot, what a difference compared to the first ten games of the season! Match report below.

Your City Your Team
11/02/06
The Your City Your Team campaign was officially launched last Saturday in the Albion bar after a few weeks of planning. The Stirling Observer followed the launch up with a full back page dedicated to the campaign and a good sized photo of the new banner and flag that the YCYT group got made up. Stirling Albion chairman, Peter McKenzie was quoted as saying he was delighted with the campaign and that SAFC would be fully behind any initiative that would bring more fans to Forthbank on match day. There was also a mention in both the Daily Express and Daily Record about the campaign as the 11th March date looms ever closer. The group are hoping to follow this up with more local and National media coverage, as well as a leaflet and poster blitz beforehand in the Stirling and surrounding area. The next step for the group was to set up a website that can be accessed by all to see what the YCYT campaign is all about (link below). As ever, this website still carries all the discussion and details on the forum and everyone will be able to access this by clicking on the "forum" link below. More work will be carried out in the next few weeks to raise the profile of SAFC to the public of Stirling in a bid to achieve the elusive 1000 home fans for the Raith game on 11th March that the YCYT group have set themselves as a target. The YCYT group will be meeting on Thursday 16th February at 7-30pm in the Albion bar (upstairs) and everyone is invited to this. This website is dedicated to bringing all the latest YCYT news over the next few weeks in the build up to the big date itself.

Stirling 1v0 Ayr Utd
04/02/06
Stirling bounced back from last week's defeat away to Dumbarton by recording their tenth league win in the last twelve games. The Binos won thanks to a Chris Aitken penalty which was his fifth goal in the last seven games. With Peterhead drawing with Morton, the Binos are now only a point of that last play off spot with a game in hand against Gretna. Next up is Forfar away and the Binos will be hoping to get all three points to keep the pressure on the Blue Toon. Match report below.
