3v2 Stirling |
28/01/06 |
| Stirling fell
to their first defeat in twelve league games away to Dumbarton
today. The Binos fielded almost the same team as last week,
except Bell came in for the suspended Fraser and Boyack got
a place on the bench. Goal scorers for the Binos where Chris
Aitken and Stewart Devine and despite a valiant attempt to win
the game, the Binos went home with nothing to show from a spirited
display. Match report below. |

2v1 Peterhead |
23/01/06 |
| Stirling made
it 12 league games without defeat (eleven wins, one draw)on
Saturday and edged to within two points of the play off spot
with a game in hand. The Binos opted for near enough the same
starting eleven as last week with Andy Graham returning to fill
in for the injured Paul Hay. Steven Bell also returned to the
squad, but found himself on the bench. Stirling where cruising
the game after goals from Wilson and Devine set them on their
way, however, a goal from Peterhead with ten minutes to go made
things a little edgy in the end. Next up is Dumbarton away and
Stirling will be looking to make it seven away wins on the spin
and keep the pressure on Peterhead for that elusive fourth placed
play off spot. Apologies for the lateness of the match report,
but we will be back to normal service next week. Match report

I am very pleased
to say that “Your City -Your Team” is ready for
the Next Step! The Trust met and are fully behind “Your
City – Your Team” which was a great step forward
for the campaign.
Although the Trust fully back this event an “Action Group”
was set up to take control of “Your City – Your
Team” . This is because we want all the groups and individuals
involved with Stirling Albion to be a part of this event. We
have the Trust and the www.stirlingalbion.com on-board and we
will want Young Reds, The Supporters Club, Red Web and any individual
fans who want to be involved to jump on our merry bandwagon. The
whole idea is to raise the profile of the club in the city and
to hopefully make sure that with Stirling Albion’s finances
in the state they are none of us can take it for granted that
Stirling will have a team in the future. This campaign is certainly
NOT some sort of dig at Stirling Albion or it’s directors,
it’s just concerned fans wanting to DO something. We have
agreed that we want to get 1000 home fans at the Raith Rovers
game on 11/03/06. this will mainly be achieved by us ordinary
supporters bringing along a pal for the day.
We want to gain as much publicity as possible on the run up
to the event to make sure that it’s a success and to raise
the club’s profile in the city.We have arranged
a meeting of the “Your City – Your Team” Action
Group next Wednesday in the Albion Bar at 7:30 and everyone
who wants to take part is invited along. If everything
goes well we will officially launch “Your City –
Your Team” in the Albion Bar on February 4th before the
Ayr game. |

duo poised for loan spell |
19/01/06 |
| Stirling duo Chris
Scotland (20-pictured left) and Steven Hutchison (20) are poised
to go on loan till the end of the season with one of the local
junior teams. Both Sauchie and Camelon junior's are reported
to be taking an interest in the duo. It's thought that the pair
can be recalled at any time if the there is any injuries to
any of the current squad. Chris Scotland made his full debut
in a Stirling top in the Challenge cup defeat by Brechin back
in August 2003 after having came on as a sub in the last game
of 2002/03. An injury to Mark McNally in March 2004 saw Chris
come into the first team on a regular basis and he put in some
fantastic performances and racked up 14+1 games for the season.
He went on to make another 21+5 appearances last season. This
season saw Chris out of favour, but a couple of injuries haven't
helped him. His only appearances this season came in the 2-0
defeat away to Dumbarton in late September. Steven first appeared
in the first team at the tender age of 16 when Ray Stewart was
in his last season as manager. He made his debut in the 2-0
away win of Dumbarton in March 2002 and made 3+2 appearances
that season. Hutchison then had to wait till the start of last
season to get back into the first team. Hutchy racked up 4+15
appearances last season and has been in and out the squad this
season. He also has had his fair share of injures this season
and that has restricted him to 2+3 appearances for the Binos.
Both players are keen to get first team football and I'm sure
both of these talented young guys will come back better players
having played regular first team football. |

Rovers 2v3 Stirling |
14/01/06 |
| Raith where celebrating
the fact that their fans had managed to gain control of their
club and secure their long term future, but Stirling gate crashed
the party and plundered all three points back to Stirling. Stirling
lined up in a 4-5-1 formation with both Steven Bell (heel injury)
and Andy Graham (one week mandatory concussion break) out of
the team that had got beaten 1-0 at home to Partick in the cup.
The line up looked as follows; Hogarth, P.Hay, Nugent, McNally,
Devine, Wilson, Fraser, Aitken, Forsyth, O'Brien and Connolly.
Robert Dunn dropped back onto the bench along with Christie,
C.Hay, Boyack (Hutchison got a groin strain in the warm up)
and Roycroft. Scorers for Stirling where Wilson, Aitken (pen.)
and O'Brien in what turned out to be an enthralling game. With
Peterhead winning yesterday as well, next week's game at home
against them is turning out to be the biggest game of the season.
If Stirling are to have any aspirations of making the fourth
placed play off spot, then a good result next week will make
all the difference. Lets hope the people of Stirling turn out
in good numbers to cheer the Binos onto another win. A quick
thanks and special mention to Taylor Jackson and Lee Neilson
for helping Ian with the match report yesterday. Match report

Binos need you!! |
10/01/06 |
| Stirling take
on Raith Rovers in a vital league game in Kirkcaldy this Saturday.
They have went ten games unbeaten in the league and are playing
some exciting football at the moment. Why not get yourself along
to the game on Saturday and back the Binos. Raith are celebrating
the fact that their supporters have saved their club by taking
it over and although adult prices will remain the same (£12
pp), kids (a maximum of two per adult) will get in for only
a £1! It looks like there will be a larger than usual
home support that day, so that should make for an exciting atmosphere.
It's already estimated that the Binos will take about two hundred
along to Starks Park, but it would be great to see the same
number there as there was against Partick on Boxing day. If
you don't have transport for getting up to the game, why not
try out the supporters bus as there is sure to be seats available.
Click on the link below to be taken to prices and times of the
bus. If you have any queries about the bus, then simply post
on the forum or click HERE to e-mail the editor with any questions. Spaces are also available
on the bus taking the Young Reds to the game, you can gain further
information by CLICKING HERE and e-mailing Ian Jones. |

0v1 Partick Thistle |
07/01/06 |
| Stirling started
2006 with a Scottish cup defeat against Partick Thistle which
ended the Binos ten game unbeaten run. The Binos last game had
been against the Maryhill opposition in which they comfortably
run out 3-0 winners, however, they looked a better team today.
Stirling started the game with a 4-4-2 formation which seen
Robert Dunn back in the starting line up instead of Chris Hay.
Thistle where backed by a large travelling support and gave
a debut to veteran striker Paul Ritchie and it was he who scored
the only goal of the game early on. The Binos thought they had
equalised in the first half when on-form striker, Paddy Connolly
scored a tap in, but it was ruled out for offside. The Binos
committed all three subs in their bid to get an equaliser and
Andy Graham almost scored a header which was was cleared of
the Thistle line, half way through the second half. The Binos
finished the last couple of minutes of the game after Graham
was knocked unconscious after a collision in the Thistle box.
All in all it was a fairly even game and the Binos can find
themselves unlucky not to be in the next round of the Scottish
cup. The ref had an absolute nightmare all game for both teams
and seem to be card happy all game, despite their not really
being any bad tackles in the game. Next up is Raith Rovers away
in the league and the Binos will be hoping to avenge the 5-2
defeat they received in Kirkcaldy on their last visit. Match report below. |
