0v1 Stirling (AET) |
30/07/05 |
The
Binos got off to a winning start in their first competitive
win to the season, however, it turned out to a be a smash
and grab raid that sent them through to the next round of
the Bells Challenge cup. Debutant Steven Boyack (pictured
left) scored the winner in extra time after John Fraser (another
debutant) had been sent off with a straight red card for a
foul from behind. Ayr can feel robbed after they had three
of four good chances to win the game, especially with the
open goal miss right on the full time whistle that hit the
post and kindly fell to Sean Roycroft's feet to clear. Also
making there debut for the Binos today where Andy Graham,
Ross Forsyth, David Turnbull and new signing Paddy Connelly
who signed up this morning. Match report below.

Park 2v3 Stirling |
26/07/05 |
Stirling
took a strong squad to Lesser Hampden in what was meant to
be a closed door game against Queens Park. The Binos team
was as follows: Christie(GK), Nugent(RB), Forsyth(LB), McNally(CB),
Graham(CB), Boyack(CM), Aitken(RM), Fraser(CM), Devine(LM),
Turnbull(F), Dunn(F) with Trialist (Paddy Connelly(F)), Wilson(RM),
O'Brien(LM), Roycroft(F) and Hutchison(CM) all getting run
out's in the second half. The Binos in truth where never at
the races in the first half with Dunn scoring a disputed header
from a Devine free kick kick. Queens equalised five minutes
from the half time whistle when Aitken lost the ball in midfield
and the Queens number nine rounded Christie to put the ball
in the net. Only a minute later and Queens where 2-1 in front.
Christie came for a cross ball and punched it only for it
to land at the Queens number seven who lobbed our young keeper
from 18 yards. Stirling came out in the second half stronger
and after Connelly and O'Brien came on, John Fraser had a
header cleared off the line after a good move. Stirling where
forced to put Sean Roycroft up front for the last 15 minutes
after Dunn came off with a groin strain and Wilson also replaced
Nugent as the Binos went to three at the back. This moved
paid off after only a couple of minutes when John Fraser equalised.
Wilson surged down the right wing and played the ball to Connelly
who in turn played a one two with Boyack and Connelly's inch perfect cross picked out Fraser who scored from about 15 yards. Stirling then brought on Hutchison for Aitken with 10 minutes
to go. With only 2 minutes left, Connelly again was the creator
of the winner when his cross from the right picked out Roycroft,
who in turn placed the ball into the net from about six yards
out. Overall this wasn't Stirling's best game and Queens look
a lively outfit this season, especially there trialist number
eleven. Christie pulled off about four or five fantastic saves
and kept us in the game whilst Connelly changed the game when
he came on and it will be interesting to see if Stirling will
sign him before Saturday. The only players that where missing
on the night where Hogarth, Hay (calf strain) and Steven Bell
(injured).

Former
Stranraer midfielder, John Fraser looks set to sign for the
Bino's in the next few days. Alan Moore looks to be still
interested in former Stirling striker Alex Williams, but this
will hinge on him sorting out a pay deal with Morton. Other
players to be linked with the Binos is former St Johnstone
striker Chris Hay, veteran strikers Paddy Connelly and Alex
Burns and David Turnball who turned out for the Binos in the
closed door game tonight against East Stirling. One trialist
who will defiantly not be signing for the Binos is Mark Bradley

with Ross Forsyth having to come on due to an injury to the

had a mix of fringe and first team players and a few trialist's.
