Slow Pre-season |
09/06/06 |
| As you can see from the front of the website, there hasn't been too much action over the last couple of weeks down Forthbank way. Here is the latest update, The Binos lost out trying to secure ex-Dumbarton striker Ian Russell who chose to sign for second division rivals Brechin City. We also lost out on Mike Hazeldine who opted to sign for Alloa instead of joining the Binos for pre-season. Allan Moore has also came out publicly and stated an interest in former Forfar player Martin Cameron and former Partick winger Andy Gibson who was on loan to stenhousemuir last season. Cameron signed in a blaze of glory from Alloa to Bristol City a few years ago, but never quite made it. He came back and signed for Gretna, but he sustained a couple of serious injuries in his time there. Next up was Forfar Athletic, but the player never really got match fit and it was no surprise when he was freed last season. Andy Gibson has already had two loan spells to the Binos over the last few seasons. Last season the winger was loaned out to Stenny, but never featured much due to injury. Moore is an admirer of the young winger and he may yet end up at the Binos for a third time after being freed by Thistle at the end of the season. Steven Boyack and Robert Dunn will also be invited back to Forthbank for pre-season training to earn themselves a new contract. On other news, The Binos confirmed that they will play Alloa away in the Stirlingshire cup on Thursday 20th July. |

O'Brie Bid |
08/06/06 |
| According to some National Papers, Stirling Albion have received a bid for £5,000 for David O'Brien from first division St Johnstone. It is thought that this initial bid has been knocked back and that the Binos are looking for a higher fee for the 22 year old who still has a year left on his contract. It is unknown at this time if the Perth Saints will come back in with a higher bid, but the player himself is keen to turn full time and test himself at a higher level. O'Brien has played over 150 games for the Binos and scored nearly thirty goals since breaking through to the first time from the Binos youth system. |
