Forfar Athletic 0v2 Stirling
31/03/07

The Binos made three changes from the previous game with Tomana coming in for Bell, Wilson coming in for Taggart and Cramb coming in for Bingham, whilst McNally returned from injury to take up a place on the bench. The hero's on the day were Dundee bound David O'Brien and Chris Aitken who gave the Binos a vital three points. Stirling remain four points behind Morton after they won 3-0 at home, but Stirling will hoping this will be reduced in midweek when the Binos take on Cowdenbeath on Tuesday night and Morton have a tricky away game against third placed Brechin. Hopefully the Stirling public will turn out in higher numbers on Tuesday night to back the Binos in their second last home tie of the season. Match report below.

O'Brie Set to leave?
27/03/07

Stirlingalbion.com has heard unconfirmed rumors that Stirling Albion winger David O'Brien is set to leave the club at the end of the season under freedom of contract and sign for first division side Dundee. O'Brien has been linked with moves to Wigan, Aberdeen, St Johnstone and Peterhead in the last few seasons and this could be his last season with the Binos. Twenty three year old O'Brien made his debut back in February 2002 at the age of 18 and has made the left midfield spot his since. David has racked up 161+25 appearances scoring an impressive 39 goals from the wing. The website will keep you up to date on any news about this possible transfer. Another person rumored to be moving on is manager Alan Moore who is being linked with the current vacant managers position at Partick Thistle after the sacking of former manager Dick Campbell. Moore has already been linked with a couple of other jobs this season and recently put pen to paper to sign a two year contract with the Binos. Again the website will bring you any news on this story as and when it's breaking.

Stirling 2v1 Morton
17/03/07

Stirling Albion managed to close the gap to just one point on league leaders Morton thanks to a fantastic last ten minutes. Stirling lined up with Hogarth, Hay, Nugent, Graham, Forsyth, Bell, Aitken, Taggart, O'Brien, Snodgrass and Bingham and with Christie, Cashmore, Wilson, Tomana and Cramb on the bench. In front of a bigger than usual home crowd, Stirling went down 1-0 in the first half and up until ten minutes to go it looked like all three points were going back to Greenock. It was a small piece of magic from on form striker Robert Snodgrass that equalised for Stirling after he curled a free kick into the top right corner from outside the box. At this point a draw was probably a fair result, although it wouldn't have been enough for the Binos in the race for the title. With only three minutes to go, up stepped Colin Cramb for the second week in a row to hit the winner. Cramb wasn't long on the field as he received the ball in the box and jinked the defender before calmly slotting away the ball. This sent the fans, team and management into massive celebrations that lasted well into the night for some of us!! Stirling are now only one point behind Morton, who have a game in hand, as both teams face an away trip to Forfar in their next game. The last six games of the season are going to be massive and hopefully the Stirling public will come out and back the Binos for these games. Match report below.

Glasgow Rugby Club in talks
17/03/07

The website has learned today that the SRU has been in discussions with Stirling Albion about playing Glasgow's matches at Forthbank next season. A leading newspaper has been in touch with the website to find out at what stages these talks are at, but it is unknown at this moment in time. Stirling Albion are believed to still be in talks with a consortium of businessmen who are wanting to take over the club and buy Forthbank. It is still thought this group of businessmen (one of which is rumored to be the owner of Euro car credit) are in talks with the council about the in's and out's of this proposal. The website will keep you updated on any news when it break's.

Pie Oven Raffle
12/03/07

As regulars at Forthbank will know, the pie situation at the club isn't ideal. At the moment, the club has to guess how many fans there will be in the home and away end of the ground and buy pies in from the local Morrisions. If they order too many then they can lose a lot of their profits and a load of pies go in the bin, if they order too little then they run out of pies- like has happened a few times this season. The website has took it upon itself to resolve this situation by raising funds to buy the club a new state of the art oven to make sure everyone gets a pie on match days and the club makes it's maximum profit from this. The cost of this type of oven is between £1000-1200 and in the last week or so we have raised almost £300 in personal donations, tannoy requests and an ebay style bid for a spare Scotland ticket. On Saturday, the website team is planning on selling raffle tickets inside each home gate for Binos to win last year's official player's strip signed by all the squad. Tickets will be on sale from the minute the gates are open and the draw will be done in one of the suites at half time and the winner will be announced over the tannoy. The cost of a raffle ticket will only be a pound and all profits will be going into the pie oven fund so please buy one and help us to raise our total. We are also appealing to any of our viewers/forum users to donate money to help us reach this total. Every penny will count to the final total and we could take donations by paypal (james@stirlingalbion.com is the paypal account), in person or by cheque- for further details please e-mail james@stirlingalbion.com or pm myself on the forum. If you have any other ideas how we can raise this money or know of any business that would like to contribute to this, then please e-mail myself on the website e-mail address.

Back The Binos This Saturday
12/03/07

As you will already know, this Saturday's home game against Morton is now Stirling Albion's biggest game of the season. The Binos must get a win if they have any chance of pushing Morton all the way to the title, whilst Morton will be looking to take the pressure off for a result at Forthbank. The Binos find themselves four points behind Morton with Morton having a game in hand. It's expected that there will be a bigger crowd than usual at this game and the website is appealing for all Stirling Albion fans to get down to Forthbank on Saturday and back the team. Even if you are just a neutral, we can guarantee that this game will be worth will coming to as both teams like to get the ball on the ground and play a nice attacking style of play. It also expected that Morton will bring 1000+ fans to the game and that should add to the game's atmosphere. The website will also like to advise all fans to be at the ground and seated for 2-30pm as it's likely that both stands will be full and that the terracing might have to be opened. Also, if you want a programme or something to eat, we would also advise that you buy it earlier than usual as no doubt there will be a large demand. On the merchandise front, the club shop has new stock available to buy from the shop between 2-3pm and for 15 minutes after the game, so why not pop in and take a look. New scarves, bronx hats (ski hats), mugs, celebration horns, jester hats, top hats and red & white wigs as well as all the usual merchandise will be on sale for this game.

Raith Rovers 0v1 Stirling
10/03/07

The Binos completed the double over both Fife team's after a 1-0 win thanks to a late winner from Colin Cramb. The Binos lined up for this game with the same team as the midweek victory over Cowdenbeath apart from Stewart Devine who came in for Marek Tomana. Overall it was a pretty even game, although Ross Forsyth passed up a great chance in the first half to head Stirling into the lead, but in the second half Colin Cramb took advantage of a terrible back pass to slot home. This was a great result after Raith were the form team in the league and next week against Morton is now the biggest game of the season. Stirling are still 4 points behind, but a win could pull the gap back to 1 point. If ever there is a game you are going to this season, then this is it. Stirling can pull themselves back into the title race if they win so get yourself down to Forthbank next week to back the Binos. Match report below.

Cowdenbeath 1v2 Stirling
06/03/07

Stirling lined up for this game with Myles in goal, Paul Hay at right back, Andy Graham (his first game since early January) and Paul Nugent at centre half with Ross Forsyth at left back. In midfield was Marek and Chris Aitken in the centre with O'Brie and Stevie Bell as wingers. Up front saw new signing David Bingham make his debut alongside other loan signing Robert Snodgrass with Christie, Taggart, Fraser, Cashmore and Cramb on the bench. Stirling had a bright start to the game with a couple of early chances, but this game soon turned pretty scrappy with no team really making any real chances until Robert Snodgrass took the ball out wide and cut inside the defender and drove the ball into the corner of the net from just outside the box to give him his third goal in three games. Stirling never really got out of second gear in the first half and they started the second half the same way. The Blue Brazil had a few minutes of pressure at the start of the second half, but the Binos broke up field and O'Brien had the ball out wide near the corner flag on the left and his cross somehow looped over the keeper to the surprise of the small band of away fans. Cowden found a second wind and a Cowden striker forced a fantastic save from Myles as most fans in the ground thought that they had pulled a goal back. It wasn't long till Cowden pulled one back after some slack defending in the box saw the ball played across goal and Liam Buchanan tapped the ball in. Cowden put a bit of pressure on the Binos for the next ten minutes with a few corner kicks, but nothing really came of it. Stirling managed to put their foot on the ball and they did enough to take all three points back to Stirling and pull the gap at the top of the table back to four points.

Bingham Signs
05/03/07
Its been reported by several sources that Stirling Albion have today signed David Bingham on loan from first division Gretna till the end of the season. Bingham has spent most of his career in the SPL with clubs like Dunfermline, Livingston and ICT, but he signed for Gretna in July 2004 and he has helped them to back to back titles that have taken them to the first division this season. David has scored 30 league goals in 54(3) appearances in his time with Gretna, but he has only managed five appearances this season as Gretna top the table in the first division. David will now go straight into the squad for tomorrow's league game against Cowdenbeath.

Stirling 4v0 Alloa Athletic
03/03/07
Stirling ran out comfortable winners after a fantastic second half display with another stunning win against their derby rivals in front od a disappointing away support. Two goals from O'Brien, one from Nugent and the other from Snodgrass seen the Binos ease themselves to another three points against Alloa. The downfall was that both teams went down to ten men after Stewart Devine and the Alloa player tussled during an off the ball incident. Stirling went another three points ahead of third placed Brechin after their surprise 3-2 defeat away to lowly Forfar, whilst Morton managed to get a 2-1 home win over Peterhead to maintain their seven point gap at the top of the table over the Binos. Next up is Cowdenbeath away on Tuesday night and the Binos will have a chance to pull the gap back to four points over Morton in the race for the title. Match report below.
