Livingston 2v1 Stirling
29/03/08

The Binos went into this game looking to try and get only their fourth win of the season and try and bridge a little gap between them and ninth placed Morton, but it was the same old story from this season as the Binos went down two one after putting in a spirited display. The Binos lined up with Myles Hogarth in goals; a back four of Paul Nugent, Andy Graham, Laurie Ellis and Stewart Devine; in midfield was Steven Bell, Chris Aitken, Craig Malloy (playing his last game as his loan contract ends) and Nathan Taggart and up front was David McKenna and Jay Rodrigeuz. On the bench was Scott Christie, Paul Murphy, under 19 midfielder Liam Corr, Colin Cramb and left wing trialist Gary Muir who played his third and final game as a trialist for the Binos and is likely to sign for the Binos this week. Jay Rodrigeuz was the man on the score sheet for the Binos but, it was Liam Corr who had the Binos support talking the most as the young under 19 player didn't look out of place in the first team after putting in a steady shift after coming on as a sub in the second half with 25 minutes to go. Corr has already played for Scotland schoolboys this season and is set to captain Scotland against England at Wembly on Saturday 26th April in which some of the Stirling supporters are going to watch the young player in action. Corr has come through the self funding youth system over the last few years and it's testament to Stewart Taylor and all the youth system committee that some of the youth's are starting to feature in the first team this season- well done guys. On other news, Erik Paartalu has now signed for first division side Morton after he was officially released by Gretna at the start of the week and became a free agent and Ryan McCay and Craig Mallow have also returned to St Mirren after their loan contracts ended at the weekend. Match report below.

Player Update
26/03/08

Gary Muir again featured as a trialist for the Binos last night when he came on as a sub with a few minutes to go in our 3-2 home defeat by Dunfermline Athletic. Gary, who has been linked with Livingston this season, is eligible to play one more game for the Binos as a trialist. John Paul McBride served the first game of a three match ban last night and will miss the up and coming games against Livingston and Queen of the South. Erik Paartalu looks likely to sign for the Binos after being officially released by SPL side Gretna. Gretna are in administration this season and Erik was one of several full time players to be released by the club. Erik now has till the 31st March to sign for a club and although he is hoping to stay full time, it looks likely he will sign a contract with the Binos till the end of the season.

Stirlingalbion.com Mini League
25/03/08

The Tuesday night Stirlingalbion.com mini league got underway again last night with both fixtures being played in the four team league. The first fixture on the night was Beechwood Albion versus our very own Stirlingalbion.com Fc. The game was very tight, but Beechwood ran out 2-0 winners thanks to two late goals from Phil Templeton and Gary McEwan. In the other fixture Team Shipman took on league leaders Stax Fc (who beat Beechwood Albion 2-0 last week) and it was Stax Fc who ran out 6-2 winners. Team Shipman are a newly formed team who will only get better as the week's go on. The scorer's for Stax Fc are to follow, but it was Blake Clason who sealed a brace for Team Shipman. Next Tuesday is a " double pointer" in both games as Team Shipman take on second place Beechwood Albion at 9pm and Stax Fc play hosts to our very Stirlingalbion.com Fc team at 9.30pm. Click on the link below to see full results and fixtures for the mini league.

Stirling 2v3 Dunfermline
25/03/08

The Binos put in a very spirited display tonight but in the end they still came away with nothing and it's just a matter of time before it becomes official that we will be in the second division next season. Stirling lined up with almost the same team that got beat to league leaders Hamilton on Saturday. Myles Hogarth started in goals; a back four of Paul Nugent, Erik Paartalu, Laurie Ellis and Ryan McCay; in midfield was Steven Bell, Chris Aitken, Craig Malloy and Nathan Taggart whilst David McKenna partnered Jay Rodrigeuz up front. On the bench was Scott Christie, Stewart Devine, Colin Cramb, Derek Lilley and the same left wing trialist as Saturday. Chris Aitken got his 13th goal of the season from the penalty spot, whilst Dunfermline bound midfielder Steven Bell scored against his future team, but it wasn't enough to get the points from Dunfermline. Stirling now find themselves ten points behind ninth placed Morton and eleven points from eighth placed Clyde. Stirling now take on Livingston away on Saturday to try and restore some much needed pride to the team, but in the end, it's time to look out the road maps for Methil et all next season. Match report below.

Stirling 0v1 Hamilton
22/03/08

The Binos support were in high spirits going into this long Easter Holiday weekend, but it took only a few minutes of watching the team play to dampen that holiday feeling! The Binos lined up with Myles Hogarth in goal; a back four of Paul Nugent, Ryan McCay, Erick Paartalu (who played most of the game at centre back and was a surprise man of the match) and Laurie Eillis; in midfield saw a full return from injury for Stevie Bell who had Chris Aitken, Craig Malloy and Nathan Taggart alongside him; whilst up front Colin Cramb again partnered Jay Rodriguez. On the bench was Scott Christie, Adam Lithgow, John Paul McBride, David McKenna and a left wing trialist. The Binos found themselves one nil down in the first few minutes thanks to some terrible defending down the left and despite some determined play in the second half, the Binos were never going to get an equaliser against the league leaders. Stirling still find themselves only eight points behind Clyde after they themselves were beaten 4-1 at home to QOS, but with only seven games of the season left, time is running out to close the gap. Stirling take on Dunfermline Athletic this Tuesday night and basically anything other than a win will put yet another nail in the coffin for the Binos this season. Match report below.

Tomana on loan To Cowden/Forsyth Out
21/03/08

Stirling Albion midfielder Marek Tomana has agreed to go on loan to second division side Cowdenbeath till the end of the season. Marek was in great form for the Binos last season and picked up the Stirlingalbion.com player of the year website award at the player of the year dance, but the Slovakian has found first team places limited this season. Cowdenbeath find themselves struggling to stay out of the third division play off spot's this season and Marek is likely to go straight into the squad that will face Ayr United tomorrow. On other news, Ross Forsyth looks like he will face an extended spell on the sidelines after a scan revealed he will be out for another three to four weeks with a recurring groin problem. The defender now looks like he faces a race against time if he is to feature again this season for the Binos.

Stirling 1v1 Clyde
15/03/08
The Binos survival hopes took a huge blow after only drawing 1-1 at home to ninth placed Clyde meaning that Clyde maintain an eight point gap over the Binos. Stirling lined up with Myles Hogarth in goals; a back four of Paul Nugent, Laurie Ellis, Andy Graham and Ryan McCay; Chris Aitken, Craig Malloy, John Paul McBride and Nathan Taggart made up the four man midfield, with Jay Rodriguez and Colin Cramb starting up front for the first time this season. On the bench there was a shock return to the bench for long term absentees Scott Christie and Steven Bell, with David McKenna, Erik Paartalu and Derek Lilley making up the numbers. Binos top scorer, Chris Aitken, notched up his twelfth goal of the season from the spot, but it still wasn't enough to beat ten man Clyde on the day. Stirling now take on league leaders Hamilton Accies this Saturday at Forthbank and with games running out, it looks like trips to Methil and Alloa will be on the cards again next season. Match report below.

Alan Moore will serve a two match ban starting from this Saturday's crunch game against Clyde and which also include's the home game against high flying Hamilton Accies the following week. On other news and Saturday's postponed game against Partick Thistle has now been re-scheduled for Tuesday 8th April with a 7-30pm kick off time.

Mid Week Round Up
11/03/08
With the Binos game against Partick Thistle being called off this evening, all eyes were glued to the other four fixtures that beat the weather and went ahead in the division tonight. At the top, Hamilton drew one all with Dunfermline whilst Dundee brushed aside Livingston two nil at Dens Park to close the gap at the top of the league to only three points with Dundee having a game in hand. However, all Stirling fans eyes were more drawn to the Clyde v Morton game as the Binos look for a lifeline to stay in the division. The game finished one all meaning both teams edged another point ahead of the Binos in the relegation battle, but Stirling now have one game in hand over ninth placed Clyde (who lead us by eight points) and two games in hand over Morton in eighth place (who lead us by nine points). A victory on Saturday against the Binos means Stirling could potentially claw both teams back into the battle for the automatic relegation spot as they would close the gap to Clyde to five points with a game in hand. A bumper crowd is set to attend Forthbank on Saturday with the prospect of former Rangers player Jorg Albertz making his debut for Clyde on Saturday, but the prospect of a vital three points is more of a lure to both sets of fans. In the other game, St Johnstone beat QOS 2-1 in Perth in the fight for third and fourth in table.

Morton 2v1 Stirling
01/03/08
The Binos went into this vital six point game with new loan signings Craig Malloy and Ryan McCay going straight into the team. Myles Hogarth stayed in goals whilst the Binos opted for a back four of Nugent, Ellis, Lithgow and McCay. Alan Moore opted for five in midfield with McBride on the right and Taggart on the left and Paartalu, Aitken and Malloy in the middle with McKenna up front on his own. On the bench saw a return to the squad for Jay Rodrigeuz alongside Daniel Cawley, Colin Cramb, Kevin Moffat and Andy Graham. Some bad defending from Lithgow and Ellis let in Jenkins to score the first goal off the game for Morton to go 1-0 up. The ref then had a shocker when he pointed to the spot after a dive from Weatherson, but the Binos got justice after Myles pulled off a great save to deny Ian Russell. The Binos then had two chances to score after Taggart sent his free header in the box straight at the keeper and then some great play from Aitken down the right fed McKenna in the box, but the striker somehow managed to send the ball wide. Alan Moore took Lithgow off at half time and put Paartalu to centre half and Colin Cramb up front. The Binos found themselves 2-0 down when Ian Russell was left unmarked in the box to head the Ton further ahead. Moore then took Ellis off to go 3-5-2 with McKenna moving to the right wing and Rodrigeuz going up front with Cramb. The Binos manager used his last sub (Moffat) to take off McBride and move Taggart onto the right wing and Moffat onto the left wing. The Binos scored a consolation goal back in the last minute when Rodrigeuz gathered in the box and sloted home for his first goal for the club. The Binos now find themselves six points behind ninth placed Clyde going into the home game against Dunfermline this Saturday. There is no match report available this week however, service will resume as normal next week.
