Stirling put in yet another dismal display today and the 4-3 scoreline only papered up the cracks of a bad game in front of a healthy away crowd. Stirling lined up with Myles Hogarth in goals. The same back four as last week took the field (Graham, Lawrie, Lowing and Devine). In midfield Docherty started on the right wing, Grehan on the left and O'Neill and Molloy in the middle with Corr and Harty up front. On the bench was Scott Christie, Sean Roycroft, Paul Murphy, Chris Hamilton and David McKenna. Martin Grehan scored his third goal in four games for the Binos, with a Liam Corr deflected goal and Paul Murphy's first goal for the club making the game look closer than it really was. Stirling have now only won seven of their last fifty league games (excluding the play off games) and if things don't start to change soon, Alan Moore could take us full circle and back into the third division! "The wages were unpaid on Friday 31st October due to what can only be described as a ‘glitch’ in the banks BACS system, the club tried on numerous occasions to connect to the banks IT system and were unsuccessful each time during the payment process, this was beyond the control of the club. All staff received their wages on Tuesday 4th November. Our staff were all advised of the delay on Thursday 30th October and the reason was explained. We believe from newspaper reports that there were other companies whose employees suffered a payment of wages delay due to the same problem." |

It's well known down Forthbank way that Stirling Albion chairman Peter McKenzie has wanted to sell the Binos for the last few seasons. After the collapse of a consortium last season, Mr McKenzie came out in the local press stating that he would officially like to put the club up for sale. With the bad start to the season, the crowds have fallen dramatically this season, with barely 500 "home" fans coming along to Forthbank on a Saturday. Stirlingalbion.com has learnt from an anonymous source that there was a problem with the wages on the last pay run. It is unknown if the wages were late or remain unpaid to date. The website will keep you up to date with any further news on this. |

Despite the fact that there was five goals in this game, Stirling put in one of their worst displays of the season in front of the worst second division crowd of the season! More and more fans are deciding to stay away each Saturday now and only a couple of bus loads of school kids seemed to brighten up the dull atmosphere at Forthbank (well done to them for coming along). Stirling lined up with Myles Hogarth in goals. Club captain Ross Forsyth missed the game through injury so David Lowing was moved into the centre of defence alongside Andy Lawrie, with Andy Graham at right back and Stewart Devine starting his first game since August at left back after returning from injury. In the midfield John O'Neill partnered Craig Molloy in the centre with Mark Docherty on the left wing and Chris Hamilton coming in for Nathan Taggart on the right. Liam Corr once again started up front, this time with Ian Harty. On the bench was Scott Christie, Nathan Taggart, Paul Murphy, Martin Grehan and David McKenna. The first half was much the same as recent weeks, awful, and the Binos found themselves 1-0 down to a very poor Stranraer side. The Binos put in a slightly better second half, but they done it the hard way to pick up the three points. Second half sub, Martin Grehan equalised, before yet more bad defending saw Stranraer go in front. It was then a Craig Molloy (his first senior goals) double that gave the Binos all three points in an eight minute spell. The Binos next take on derby rivals Alloa Athletic and it's hoped the fans will come out in force to back the Binos to a vital win. There will be no supporters bus laid on that day due to the new rail link between Stirling and Alloa (see Scotrail for details). A group of Stirling fans will be heading to the Old Brewery pub in Alloa for about 11.30am for a pre-match drink, all welcome. Match report below. |
