Stirling 2v4 Hamilton Accies |
01/12/07 |
Stirling opted for a 4-5-1 formation today after a slight groin strain relegated Colin Cramb to the bench as Ross Harris made up the five man midfield. The Binos did change the bench once again with Hogarth, Devine, Tomana, Cramb and Walker all making up the squad. It was the league leaders who took all three points back to Hamilton with Cramb and Aitken (Penalty) who were the Stirling scorers. Stirling will next take on promotion challengers Dundee at Dens Park and the Binos will be looking to pick something up before they start to get isolated at the bottom of the table. Stranraer 0v6 Stirling |
24/11/07 |
The Binos resisted the opportunity to field a more weakened team against third division Stranraer in their first Scottish cup tie of the season. The same team took the field as the one that lost 4-3 away to Livingston except that Chris Aitken replaced the suspended Ross Harris and David McKenna returned after his one match suspension for the injured Derek Lilley. Allan Moore did however, make changes to the bench with Paul Hay, Nicky Walker and under 19 defender Derek Currie joining Myles Hogarth and William Easton on the bench. The Binos dominated this game from start to finish as they showed the massive gulf in quality between the two teams as they ran out 6-0 winners which was their biggest away win since a 7-0 away win over Queen of the South in April 1996. Nicky Walker scored his first goals for the Binos after coming on as a sub at half time and bagging a brace, whilst Chris Aitken also got a brace and Colin Cramb and top scorer David McKenna also got on the score sheet. The Binos will be back on league business next Saturday against league leaders Hamilton Accies and hopefully Allan Moore will still be in charge after the recent rumors that he might be on his way to St Johnstone to replace the recently departed Owen Coyle. Moore Linked With Possible Move |
21/11/07 |
St Johnstone look likely to lose Owen Coyle tomorrow to English side Burnley after both teams agreed compensation for the young manager and this has lead to speculation that former fans favourite Alan Moore could be on his way to the Perth side. Moore took over Stirling in June 2002 after Ray Stewart had taken Stirling to the depths of the third division the previous season in which we were just a penalty kick away from finishing the worst team in Scotland. Moore has brought steady improvement to the Binos and after a decent mid table finish, he lead Stirling to promotion in his second season. After two mid table finishes in the second division in which saw full time teams like Morton, Gretna, Raith and Ayr struggle against the Binos, Stirling won promotion to the first division last season via the play off's on a pretty limited budget. The chairman was quick to sign him on a new contract at the end of last season to tie him up to the Binos till the end of next season (2008/09). Over this time, the Binos manager has been linked with moves to St Mirren, St Johnstone, Dunfermline and Ayr United, however, nothing came of them despite some concrete offers. If Coyle moves to Burnley then there is a high chance that Moore will move to St Johnstone as they will have the finances to take him there. Moore works full time for a college and a lot will depend on them being able to pay wages which will cover his job and wages from the Binos as well as a substantial compensation package for the Binos. The website will keep you updated if there is any official move for Moore. |

Livingston 4v3 Stirling |
11/11/07 |
| The Binos went into this game knowing that a defeat could effectively see them move to the bottom of the table until at least December. Stirling lined up with Christie in goals; the same back four as the previous few weeks of Nugent, Reid, Ellis and Forsyth; in midfield Steven Bell returned from a one week lay off because of a knock to partner McBride in the middle of midfield with Taggart and Harris on the wings; up front saw a start for Derek Lilley after David McKenna was suspended due to his red card last week and he partnered Colin Cramb up front. On the bench was Hogarth, Tomana, Devine, Easton and Aitken. Both teams served up an absolute thriller of a game with goals galore, end to end action and plenty other things to excite both sets of fans. The Binos found themselves being 3-0 down at half time despite coming off the park having been the better side!! Three early second half goals from Bell, Cramb and McBride sent the large away crowd into heaven as Stirling enforced their never say die attitude on the game. Both sets of teams had their chances to win it, but it was Livingston who broke on the counter attack to seal the three points with a winner. Stirling then had Ross Harris sent off for a tackle that never looked more than a yellow card before man of the match Dorrans for Livingston spoiled his efforts of the day with some blatant time wasting after refusing to go off the pitch as he spent about three minutes on the pitch with cramp before casually walking round the park after being subbed. Most of the Stirling crowd went away happy despite having seen their team beaten but knowing that the players gave everything and that we tried to play good passing and attacking football when it is more easy to play a defensive long ball style of play that has been the downfall of so many part time teams in this division over the years. Despite their efforts, the Binos go bottom of the league today after Clyde's away win over Dundee, but if the players play like this every week, then it wont be long before we move up the table. Stirling now don't have a league game until December due to the International break next week and the Scottish cup tie away to Stranraer the following week. Match report below. |

Morton 1v1 Stirling |
03/11/07 |
The Binos went into this game full of confidence after notching their first win in style the previous week against Dunfermline at home. Stirling lined up with the same team as last week with the notable exception of the injured Steven Bell in midfield. This seen a return to the team for Chris Aitken and the space left on the bench was filled by Stewart Devine who himself made his first appearance since his injury against Hearts in late August. The Binos found themselves 1-0 down early on in the first half, but the team battled away to get a well deserved point through a fantastic header from Laurie Ellis (his first goal of the season) despite going down to ten men after David McKenna received a very harsh second yellow card in the game. This means the Binos will go into a very important game against Livingston next week missing their top scorer. Match report below. |
