2v0 Stirling |
24/09/05 |
| Stirling slumped
to their sixth league defeat in a row today with a 2-0 defeat
away to Dumbarton. Stirling have now only taken one point from
a possible twenty one this season and are now starting look
adrift at the bottom of the table. Stirling gave starts to Chris
Scotland, Andy Graham and debut's to on-loan Rangers keeper
Robert Giacomo and Steven Bell who played well in the Stirlingshire
cup win against Alloa on Tuesday night. Dumbarton took full
points with a double from ex-Falkirk striker Andy Rogers. To
make matters worse, Steven Bell was sent off for his second
yellow card of the game after he dived in the box half way through
the second half. Stirling did create a couple of chances, however,
a glaring miss from Paddy Connelly didn't help matters in the
first half. Stirling really need to start picking up points
before the likes of Gretna, Morton and Raith Rovers are back
on the fixture list. Next week Stirling play host to surprise
package Ayr United and now is the time to end this terrible
run of games and get three much needed points and start thinking
about moving up the table. |

1v2 Stirling |
20/09/05 |
| Stirling cruised into the final of
the Stirlingshire cup after an early scare from the Wasps. The
Binos started the game with under 19's Andy Bell and David Forbes
in defence as well as Chris Scotland and Andy Graham. David
O'Brien, Stewart Devine, Steven Boyack and under 19 player Nathan
Taggart made up the midfield with David Turnbull and Chris Hay
up front. The Binos went 1-0 behind after a substantial bit
of pressure from the Binos, however, Chris Hay equalised after
a clever piece of play by Nathan Taggart. Stirling fielded Steven
Bell early in the second half for Stewart Devine and the midfielder
came close on a couple of occasions on his debut after being
out injured for four months. Stirling then took the lead when
big Andy Graham rose above everyone else for a corner and headed
the Binos into the lead. There was only ever going to be one
winner after that and Stirling's final change saw under 19 striker
Chris Brophy replace Chris Hay. The Binos will now meet East
Stirling in the final in a bid to win the cup for a third successive
time. |

game re-arranged again |
19/09/05 |
| Some Stirling fans where un-happy
when Stirling moved their New year derby game against Alloa
at home to clash with the vital Scotland qualifying game on
Saturday 8th October. The board then made the kick-off time
12 noon, still to the dismay of some fans. The board has therefor
moved the game to Friday 7th October with a 7-30pm kick off
time so those Binos who follow Scotland can go to both matches.
Hopefully this will lead to a bigger crowd with the appeal of
a one off Friday night game as well as fans being able to make
both matches. Many thanks to all that where involved in getting
the date changed. |

1v3 Peterhead |
17/09/05 |
| Six games into the season and things
are looking pretty bleak for the Binos as they continued their
bad start to the season by losing 3-1 at home to Peterhead.
Scott Christie came in for the injured Myles Hogarth in goals
and Douglas Wilson replaced Steven Boyack from Wednesday night's
game. Stirling dominated this game for the first sixty minutes,
but it was Peterhead who took the lead. Paddy Connelly equalised
for the Binos before half time with a superb curling shot from
20 yards out. However, it was the Blue Toon who took all three
points thanks to two second half goals. Stirling are slowly
starting to fall adrift at the bottom of the table and next
week's game away to second bottom Dumbarton is already shaping
up for a six pointer! In the mean time, the Binos will face Alloa
away in the Shire cup on Tuesday night for a place in the final
against East Stirling. |

1v2 Morton |
14/09/05 |
| Stirling where put out of the Challenge
cup tonight by second division rivals Morton. In front a healthy
Morton support, the Ton went 1-0 in front after some slack Stirling
defending only for the Bino's to equalise a few minutes later
through a John Fraser wonder strike. Fraser had missed the last
few games through injury, but he put in a spirited performance
that earned him the sponsors man of the match award. Morton
took the lead in the second half and held onto the final whistle.
This wasn't without a scare though as Binos substitute Douglas
Wilson had the ball in the net only for the linesman to rule
offside. Match report below. |

make programme break-through |
13/09/05 |
| Stirling Albion supporters trust
is proud to announce that the club has accepted it's proposal
to produce and edit the official programme. The first programme
will be on sale tomorrow night at the same price as before.
Please support the club and us by buying one tomorrow night.
Stirling Albion Supporters Trust have this week sent out membership
renewal form's to all it's members and previous members in a
bid to get numbers up. The focus in recent years has been to
get recognised by the Stirling Albion board so that the trust
could help the club. This has now been put on the back burner
after all attempts have been ignored by the current board. The
emphasis this year is to make the people of Stirling more aware
of the trust, gain new members and to help the club as much
as we can indirectly. Over the last few years the trust has
done a lot of work that the people of Stirling may have not
reliased and it's hoped that the efforts of this years board
committee will have more press coverage. We are therefor appealing
to anyone out there who cares for SAFC to join the trust in
a bid to eventually be recognised by the club. It only costs
£10 per adult per annum to join and £5 per under
16 year per annum to join. Please take a second to look at the
supporters trust website (link is available below or by clicking
on the supporters trust badge below on the left) to see exactly
what it is the trust are trying to achieve. For example, did
you know that Stirling Albion was more than £1.3 million
pounds in debt? We want to help the club get rid of this, but
we need your help to do this. There is still a limited amount
of places available on the trust committee and all members can
come along to the meetings to ask questions or give us advice.
We need you to stand up and be counted and help take the club
forward. We are therefor appealing to all the clubs fans to
join together and help the club out of it's current predicament.
To become a member, simply e-mail james@stirlingalbion.com for further details or approach one of the trust committee at
one of the games. A printable form is available below
and it should be sent back to James Smith,50 Main Street,Cowie,Stirling.FK7-7BN. |

Rovers 5v2 Stirling |
10/09/05 |
| Stirling's dismal
start to the season continued yesterday when the Binos threw
away a 2-1 lead to eventually go down 5-2 to their second division
counterparts. Things got off to a bad start when Rovers went
into a early lead, but Paddy Connelly headed the Binos equaliser
before half time with both teams hitting the wood-work as well.
Stirling again started the second half brightly with Chris Hay
notching his first goal for the club in front of the healthy
Albion support on his first league start for the Binos. Both
strikers both put in great shifts on the day and are the only
ones to come out of this game with their heads held high. Stirling
then threw the three points away with some terrible defending
in which our midfield was guilty as well. Stirling gave a debut
to young eighteen year old John Miller who has been doing well
in the under 19's, but the young striker had little time to
impress with only a few minutes left. Stirling now turn their
attention to the Bells Challenge Cup quarter final game with
Morton on Wednesday night, but more importantly they must pick
up three points at home to Peterhead next Saturday to end this
terrible start to the season. |

| Stirling's New
Year's derby game (Saturday 2nd January 2006) has now been re-scheduled
to coincide with Scotland's vital home World qualifying game
against Belarus at Hampden (Saturday 8th October). The original
kick-off time was set for 12-30pm,but in hindsight has now been
moved back to 12 noon by both sets of clubs. This has sparked
a bit of reaction from both sets of supporters on the forum.

draw Morton in cup |

| The binos where
drawn against Morton in the quarter-final draw of the Bells
Challenge cup. Stirling have beaten Ayr United and Berwick Rangers
to reach this round whilst Morton have beaten big spending Gretna
and first division Brechin City. The Binos have also played
Morton once this season in the league in which we got beat 2-0
at home in which was a pretty one sided game in Morton's favour. |
