Cowdenbeath 2v2 Stirling |
30/09/06 |
Stirling remained in second place in the league when they came away from Central Park today with a well earned share of the points. The Binos started the game with almost the same team as last week with Alan Moore opting for 4-4-2 instead of a 4-5-1 with Chris Aitken replacing Nathan Taggart on the left wing and Dene Shields moving up front alongside Colin Cramb. The Binos got off to a great start when Steven Bell was impeded in the box and Chris Aitken stepped up to score from the resulting penalty. The Binos switched off and found themselves 2-1 down, but the Binos never say die attitude produced some fine chances before Colin Cramb scored his sixth goal of the season. Sadly the second half wasn't anywhere as good as the first half, but the Binos came away with a well earned point and kept their great unbeaten run going. Next up is a trip down to Sommerset Park to take on Ayr United who drew level on points today after a 1-0 win over Raith Rovers. Match report below. |

Stirling 2v0 Peterhead |
23/09/06 |
The Binos ground out a vital three points today against a physical Peterhead side that where unlucky not to take something from the game. The Binos set out with with the same formation as last week (4-5-1), but Paul Hay stepped in for the injured Paul Nugent at right back, Dene Shields slotted in on the right wing for Dougie Wilson and Marek Tomana slotted in midfield for Chris Aitken. The Binos never got going until they swapped to 4-4-2 in the second half when Shields moved up front alongside Cramb. It was Shields who opened the scoring at the start of the second half and then Colin Cramb wrapped up the points with a fantastic header. The Binos defence remained solid for the rest of the games and the Binos are now second in the league after Cowden got beat at Stranraer. Stirling now take on Cowden away from home next week and they will be looking to avenge their early cup exit earlier in the season. Match report below. |

Morton 1v1 Stirling |
16/09/06 |
The Binos made it six games without defeat today after coming away from league leaders Morton with a well deserved point. Stirling opted to go with a 4-5-1 formation for the first time this season with a back four of Forsyth, McNally, Roycroft and Nugent, a midfield with Taggart (making his first ever start for the Binos) on the left, Bell, Fraser, Aitken and Wilson and a lone striker in Colin Cramb with Myles in goal. Last week's man of the match Tomana found himself on the bench alongside Hay, Cashmore, Shields and Christie. Despite early Morton pressure and Stirling's defensive shape it was the Binos who where by far the better team in the first half. Morton took the lead when sub Tomana was wrongly adjudged to have given a foul near the Binos bye line and Lilley headed home from the resulting free kick. The Binos put some pressure on the Morton defence and where awarded with a penalty deep into injury time in which Chris Aitken kept his nerve and slotted away. It was more than the Binos deserved and it gives the Binos a valuable point on a ground where many teams will struggle this season. Next up to Forthbank it Peterhead who recorded another fine win today and are on a great run that will see them challenge at the right side of the table this season. Stirling's home form hasn't been too impressive this season, but hopefully the boys will be spurned on by today's success and keep the Binos up their challenging for the title this season. Youth Team Section |
09/09/06 |
Stirlingalbion.com is now proud to be able to bring you up to date information regarding all the Youth Team's score's and match reports for every youth game this season. As you may or may not know, the club was unable to fund the youth system this season and a dedicated group of individuals where determined not to let the youth system end there. They set up a committee and through fund raising and help from local business's, the youth system was able to continue this season. However, the hard work only started there and the committee is now fund raising and on the look out of ways to help fund the three remaining youth teams (under 15,17 and 19's) on going expenses. There is already some proposed fund raisers, but the committee is looking for as much help as possible from fans and any business that is able to help keep the youth system alive and you can e mail info@stirlingalbionFC-ythdev.org or telephone 07989 454 991 with any ideas. The website has set up a pledge scheme whereby any person can pledge x amount of money for each of Stirling Albion's first team players to score competitive goals and the money will go to the Youth System at the end of the season. To have a look at more details then CLICK HERE or to see the up and coming fundraiser's, then click on the link below. Stirlingalbion.com will keep you up to date on up and coming events and hopefully together we can raise enough money to help keep the future talent of tomorrow coming through to play for the Binos. |

Stirling 3v0 Forfar Athletic |
09/09/06 |
The Binos strolled to a three goal win over a lackluster Forfar side and finally got their first win at Forthbank this season. Stirling went into this game sporting almost the same team as last week, except that Ross Forsyth returned to left back and Ian Cashmore got a rare start leaving Paul Hay and Dene Shields to move onto the bench. In form winger, David O'Brien came off for young Nathan Taggart late in the first half and the young winger went on to have a fantastic game. The Binos managed to put the game to bed in the second half with goals from man of the match Tomana, Cramb and Shields. Cramb now takes his goal tally to four goals in seven games, but could have had another three on top of that today! Anyway, the Binos will face a tougher game next week when they take on top of the league side Morton at Cappielow. Match report below. |

Stirling 1v1 Raith Rovers |
03/09/06 |
| Stirling conceded a late goal to throw yet more points away for the second home game in a row. After a pretty dire first half Colin Cramb slammed the Binos home in front of a larger than usual home attendance. The Binos had another great chance when Cramb and Cashmore where two on one, but they squandered the chance to finish the game off. A late free kick saw a simple ball in not defended well and the Raith player headed home. Stirling had a late penalty kick claim turned down, but overall a draw was a fair result. The added attraction of this game being on a Sunday saw a larger than usual home and away crowd, but sadly they had to watch a very game. Next up is Forfar at home and another chance to take three points, but it all depends if the Binos can break their home hoodoo!! Match report below. |

Gibson Departs |
02/09/06 |
| The Binos have released recent summer signing Andy Gibson this week. The right winger wants to take a break from football and is thought to be moving abroad in the coming weeks. Gibson resigned for the club after impressing Alan Moore in pre-season and the winger made his third debut for the club in the opening day defeat by Ayr United. Gibson went on to play 2+3 games for the Binos, scoring no goals over the last month. All at stirlingalbion.com would like to wish Andy all the best in the future. |
