UNDER 17 FIXTURE'S
LATEST LEAGUE TABLE
Sunday 26th August
Stirling 1v1 Clyde
In their second SFL Youth League game the 17's team came up against Clyde in a hard fought encounter which resulted in a 1 - 1 draw. After trial keeper McMullan had made a couple of great saves, the Bino's new strike partnership combined for a superb goal to give them the lead. Liam Cullen laid off a good pass to Dylan MacGowan and his strike flew into the corner of the net in a great finish. The two almost repeated the act minutes later but half time arrived with Stirling on top but unable to add to their lead. In the second half Clyde did take control and on one of the few occasions when the defence allowed an opponent too much space in the box, they grabbed a good equaliser with a well placed shot which gave substitute keeper Craig King no chance. There were chances at both ends but neither team could find a winner and a draw was probably a fair result. The side will hope to maintain their positive, unbeaten start with a home game against Raith Rovers on Sunday.
Sunday 19th August
Stirling 2v0 East Stirling
Having collected the 'dirty laundry' from the 14's game Taylor heads back to Stirling in time for the 2.00pm kick off in the 17's SFL youth league game against East Stirling at Stirling University. With a number of new signings involved coaches Faulkner and Breton know that the newly formed East Stirling team will be keen to make a winning start but with a thoroughly professional performance it is the Stirling team who notch up a first day win with a 2 - 0 victory. Striker Liam Cullen scored a great headed goal leaping high to meet Dylan McGowan's excellent cross to give the Bino's a first half lead. Although they hit the post and missed a number of one on one chances against the goalkeeper a superbly struck free kick from Greg Munn secured the points for Stirling as a rock solid performance from the back four of Munn, Wilson, Dolan and Bond kept East Stirling well under control. The fixtures for the next games see the 17's meet Cyde FC at home followed by another home game against Raith Rovers on the 2nd of September - again both games scheduled for Stirling University.
PRE-SEASON UPDATE
