UNDER 19 FIXTURES
LATEST LEAGUE TABLE
Sunday 26th August
Stirling 4v2 Clyde
Given an opportunity to play on the main pitch at Forthbank for their fixture against Clyde the 19's team took full advantage of their opportunity by recording their second win in the Youth League with a 4 - 2 scoreline. After a sluggish start which saw them fall a goal behind, the Binos equalised from a corner taken by Derek Currie and headed home by mid fielder Craig Young. Liam Corr fired the home team ahead and unfortunately the Clyde keeper was forced to leave the field when a heavy fall left him dazed. Despite this, and with an outfield player deputising in goal the visitors bounced back to equalise. Stirling went down to ten men when defender Kenny Feaks was ordered off. Feaks was mystified when his opponent collapsed near him and could not understand why the referee took the action he did. The opponent was up in the second he saw the red card produced and Feaks will have to learn his lesson as a suspension is imminent. Stirling, however, remained focussed and Michael Dick, a striker at 6' 3" tall, headed number three from a cross by Darren Dalrymple and the points were secured when Craig Young notched his second of the game. Maximum points from two league matches and an away game against Raith Rovers next up. This will undoubtedly be a tough fixture but it's no wonder the 19's can't wait for their next match.
Sunday 19th August
Partick Thistle 1v3 Stirling Albion
Playing away from home the team turned in an excellent performance to win 3 - 1. Triallist Callum Scott cut in from the left to link with Liam Corr before firing the Bino's into an early lead after 20 minutes. Mid fielder Craig Young then stuck home a second after a goalmouth stramash and the Stirling team was in full command. Derek Currie netted a second half penalty to put Stirling 3 - 0 up and the team were disappointed to lose a late goal from a corner kick for Partick's counter. Fellow coach Dave Binnie follows up his team mate's call to confirm the scoreline - it hadn't changed - Stirling still won 3 - 1! Next game on the 26th will be home to Clyde with, hopefully Forthbank Stadium the venue then an away game on the 2nd September to Raith Rovers.
PRE-SEASON UPDATE
The under 19's have been hard at work in pre season training and friendlies as coaches Dave Binnie, Graham Donald and Billy Hurst prepare them for the season ahead. Youth Physio, Dave Jenkins has fitness tested all the players and will monitor their fitness regularly through out the season. 'This is the age group that must start to push for a spot in Allan Moore's first team plans. We have eleven boys from last year's Under 19 squad who are eligible to play again this year. With eleven boys moving up from last year's Under 17 squad competition will be fierce. The Youth coaches are confident that there are players in this squad who can break through to first team football - it's up to them to show the desire, discipline and dedication to play in the First Division.'
